Yesterday a team of 21 staff from Specsavers spent the day helping at the GSPCA.
The staff from Specsavers are the first group of 2015 to help at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
The group arrived at 9am and had a quick induction, group picture and were then quickly set to work around the site.
The 21 Specsavers staff were split into teams and split in different directions to lay pathes and prepare hanging baskets, wash dogs and clean kennels, socialise cats and empty litter trays, scrub rabbit hutches and clean bird cages, help of the hedgehog department, prepare for our Easter Egg and Treasure Hunts, administration duties and a lot more.
After a full day of helping the team were given a tour and each given a certificate of thanks for helping at the GSPCA.
Yvonne Chauvel Senior Animal Care Assistant said "What a really lovely group of staff we had from Specsavers helping at the GSPCA."
"They were all so keen and helped us do so much, thank you to each and every one."
Sheryl Carre Animal Care Assistant said "We're really busy on the kennels at the moment and it was great to have so much help."
"They helped us wash dogs, walk them, clean them out which was great."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We are so grateful when we are approached from local groups and businesses that want to help at the GSPCA."
"The 21 staff from Specsavers were fantastic and a really great help."
"We have our Easter Treasure and Egg Hunts coming up from Sunday and they helped decorate and prepare for a busy fund raising week."
"Everyone from Specsavers seemed to really enjoy themselves and also got to learn so much of what we do and how much work goes on behind the scenes."
"So may people don't realise that we operate 24 hours a day 7 days a week, that we help over 3000 animals a year and that it costs £2000 a day to run the Shelter and all this without the new much needed multi purpose animal welfare building we are constructing which is costing £1.3 million replacing 5 very old buildings."
"There are so many ways businesses can help from time to supporting our new build, advertising in our quarterly newsletter to sponsoring a kennel."
"A huge thank you to Meryl, Permille, Alison, Joanne, Sara, Joy, Anna, Andrew,Becky, Darran, Rick, Steve, Henrik, Kimberley, Nicky, Art, Helene, Michelle, Julie, Antony and Abi for all of their hard work and to Specsavers for allowing the team to come and help."
