St Andrews Primary School raising funds for the GSPCA Purple Week on our birthday tomorrow

Tomorrow pupils and teachers from St Andrews Primary School will be doing their bit for the GSPCA Purple Week on what is the charities 141st birthday.

Not only will pupils and teachers be buying GSPCA purple wrist bands and having a mufti day ,they are also going to have a few special visitors but ssshhhhh don't tell the children!

Tomorrow afternoon GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne will be taking a few of the residents along to the school for them to meet.

The GSPCA helps rescue, rehome, reunite and rehabilitate over 2000 animals every year and tomorrow the children will find out about the wonderful work that goes on in animal rescue and care every day here in Guernsey.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'It is wonderful how schools, businesses and those caring people go out of their way to help and raise money for the many animals in need here in Guernsey.'

'It's always a joy to talk to children about the work we do here at the GSPCA as they are always fascinated, although they often get a little distracted when we take animals into an assembly or class room.'

'We are really grateful to St Andrews for getting involved, it is a lovely little school and they do a lot for charity.'

'It's never too late to get involved in raising funds for the Shelter and you just have to look at a few of our purple staff to get a few ideas.'

'The staff have had bit of a purple theme all week from beards to hair, glasses to hats and they are still after sponsorship which you can do so by calling, online or at the Shelter.'

'Thank you to everyone involved in the GSPCA Purple Week and with tomorrow being our birthday we'd like to ask everyone to stop and reflect on the countless animals lives we have helped at the GSPCA over the last 141 years.'
