Chloe Butt (8), a pupil at St. Andrews Primary School had a surprise last week when she was told that she had won a party for her year on the 3G Pitch at the KGV. Chloe was the winner of the GSPCA design a firework and bonfire poster competition which will be used in the GSPCA safety information for 2015.
Presenting the prize was Toby the dog accompanied by Steve Byrne, Manager of the GSPCA who commented "The lucky winner was Chloe and despite a large number of entries from other schools islandwide, it was two of her class mates that were awarded joint second place”.
Over 70 posters were received by the animal charity and it presented a tough decision for the judging panel made up of staff from the GSPCA.
Sarah Creasey Animal Welfare and Education Officer said "Lorna Prince and I judged the Firework and Bonfire Poster Competition, the standard was very high and it was really hard to decide a winner but with Annie, one of the GSPCA rehomed dogs help we soon found our winner. Chloe’s entry was both very artistic and informative.
Jo Wyatt, KGV Director said “We were delighted to see the winning poster and we are looking forward to welcoming Chloe and her class mates to the KGV for their 3G Party, it should be great fun.”
Year 4 class teacher, Abigail Kimber, said “over 2/3 of my class entered the competition and in class we talked about how spellings and presentation were important and that they had to make their poster stand out from entries from other schools. Pupils in my class worked hard on their own designs and I am very proud that the winning entry came from my class. They are all very excited about their prize and playing on the 3G pitch down at KGV”.
