The GSPCA were recently approached by Rhianna Trump and Cara Lenfestey who are both 12 and go to Guernsey Grammar and Sixth Form Centre.  Rhianna and Cara have set up their very own company called Trick'n'Treat and are supporting the GSPCA through the sales of their products as part of the Student Business Challenge. Here is a list of some of their range on sale which you can purchase some on sale at the GSPCA:

No Chocolate Brownies for Dogs £1.80

Ham and Cheese treats for Dogs £2.00

Tuna Treats for Cats and Dogs  £2.00

Dolphin Friendly Tuna and Catnip Treats for Cats  £1.80

Handmade Hamster Huts £6.00

Chew Toys with Sweet Potato and Tennis Balls  £3.00

Handmade Unique Cat Plushies  £5.00

Made Your Own Cat Plushie Kits £3.00

Rhianna said “All our products are completely handmade and created by one of us. Cara makes the Hamster huts from planks of wood cut with special equipment then sticks the together with animal safe glue. The wood is completely chewable and the paint is completely non-toxic.

“The dog treats have been checked by Vets4Pets to make sure they are completely safe. They were tested and gobbled down by a real dog. The video of an adorable beagle enjoying the treats is on our Instagram.”

“They cat treats made my cat run faster than I've ever seen her in her life! The cat plushies 'make your own' kits is a fantastic rainy day activity for any child and the cat plushies are fun and safe.  The plushies can be sprayed with catnip as a free optional extra so you can give them to a cat.”

“The chew toys have rings of dried sweet potato attached to a rope which will help a dog exercise it's teeth and digestive health. It has a tennis ball attached to the end of the rope to make it easy to play with your dog and bond together in a park while playing.”

“I am supporting the GSPCA because I really care about animal welfare and the GSPCA has been really good at calming and looking after my cat when we go away on holiday. The GSPCA also helped look after and rescue my grandparents' cat before they got her. I really admire the work of the GSPCA and would love to volunteer to help there when I'm old enough. But while I'm still twelve, all I can do to help is to give money so that is what I'm doing.”

“My all time favourite animal ever is the common domestic cat because a cats love is a privilege so you feel very special when they trust you and defend you.   I own a black and white cat named Hermoine who is very gentle and has only clawed me once in her entire 4 years of life, when she was very scared.  Hermoine is very sweet because if I lie down she will come and sniff me to check I'm okay.

“My second favourite animal is a clouded leopard which is a magical and majestic rainforest creature with beautiful eyes. It is unfortunately endangered.  Cara and I also do have a shared love of quokka. A quokkas is a vulnerable Australian mammal, related to kangaroo's and wallabies that live on Rottenest island. A genetic mutation caused their mouths to constantly be in a smiling position which makes them look very cute.”

“If people like, you can order a custom made order, with requests such as ear colour or a message for example. This will cost an extra 20p. You also must hurry if you want to buy, because the challenge ends on 26th of March so you must hurry!  All the treats should be kept refrigerated and thrown away when they reach the expiry date.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “I recently met up with Rhianna and Cara and it is wonderful that these young entrepreneurs have decided that with their Student Business Challenge they would like to support our work here at the GSPCA through the funds they are raising.”

“They have a lovely range of products on sale and we have a selection at our shop here at the GSPCA which is open 7 days a week.”

“You can see Rhianna and Cara with their company Trick’n’Treat selling in town next on the 11th march and they are hoping to be at other events in the coming weeks.”

“They have a facebook page and Instagram so if you’d like to know more please do get in touch with them.”

“From all at the GSPCA a huge thank you to these kind young ladies and we look forward to seeing them volunteer on site when they are old enough.”
