At the GSPCA we are often appealing for much needed equipment, appeals and to help the work we carry out 24/7.
Earlier this week a parcel arrived at our front desk which turned out to be a real surprise.
On opening the box here in contained an amazing new Intensive Care Unit.
We have been appealing for new Intensive Care Units recently at the GSPCA as many we have are nearly 8 years old and with them in use 24/7 and our peak time for baby, sick and injured animals upon us they are often having wildlife being double, triple, quadruple and more up in each which often is in the animals best interest such as baby birds and similar aged hoglets.
Within hours of unpacking and setting up the new TLC-30 Advance Intensive Care Units it was in use and we have already had a number of baby birds being housed in it to help save their lives.
The TLC-30 Advance Intensive Care Units are a brand new design, much easier to clean, stack, use and at the GSPCA we would love at least a dozen to help with those very sick and ill animals.
The kind person who donated this amazing piece of equipment has the name of ‘Anonymous’ so we can’t thank them directly but from all at the GSPCA we are hugely grateful to them.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Around the clock we are helping baby birds, hoglets, baby bunnies, injured hedgehogs, ducklings, injured birds of prey and many others just to mention a selection we have had in the last few days needing intensive care units.”
“When we opened the TLC-30 Advance Intensive Care Unit that arrived anonymously in the post on Wednesday the shock and joy from all of the team was a real picture.”
“All of the team really love the newly donated TLC-30 Advance Intensive Care Unit not only as it’s a great piece of equipment to help save animals, but just for the sheer kindness, generosity and thoughtfulness of the wonderful donator.”
“We would love ideally 12 of the new TLC-30 Advance Intensive Care units as many of our older units have been used day and night for 7/8 years and are in need of repairs and replacements.”
“They retail with carriage over £200 and we are appealing for anyone to help us purchase additional units as well as towards our much needed Wildlife Hospital.”
“You can help us buy more of these much needed units by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/gspcaintensivecare or to buy one directly like the amazing person that donated this one for the Shelter please visit https://brinsea.co.uk/small-animal-care/tlc-intensive-care-incubators/tlc-30-advance/ .”
“With so many animals and buildings to care for at the GSPCA we have many wishes and to visit others please visit http://www.gspca.org.gg/about/our-plans-wish-list .”
Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said "As soon as we had set the new Intensive Care Unit up and placed in our hospital area we had injured baby birds that went straight into it."
"It is so amazing as its ideally for transporting baby animals that are being hand reared and really easy to clean."
"We would love some more of these fab units and s huge, huge thank you to the kind person that donated our very first one of this kind."
