On the evening of the 9th October GSPCA Ambulance Warden was called out in the dark to rescue an oiled Razorbill found at L’Eree.
The stormy Winter weather often stirs up oil from the seabed causing wildlife harm and Olly McTolly as the bird was called when found was rushed to the GSPCA where GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne checked the poorly bird in and provided the initial first aid with the Ambulnace Warden.
The GSPCA are urging bird owners to protect their pets.

11 year old Astrid Meadow has released her song ‘You’re A Ray of Sunshine’ online to raise funds for the GSPCA and Guernsey Animal Aid.

Today the GSPCA have had two calls to help injured birds of prey.
One a Peregrine Falcon in St Martins and the other a Kestrel at the Fairy Ring.
The Kestrel has been named Oberon and has an injured wing.
He was rescued earlier today by GSPCA team member Neil Hughes who attended in the GSPCA Ambulance.
Oberon has been checked over and is under treatment in our Wildlife Unit.
The Peregrine was called in this morning and GSPCA team member Kevin Beausire headed there in the GSPCA Ambulance with the caller informing us the bird was caught in netting.
A huge thanks from all at the GSPCA to those that supported the GSPCA Quiz Night at the Cock and Bull which took place last week.
Originally planned for March earlier this year it sadly had to be postponed due to lock down and Covid-19.
Thankfully due to our safe Bailiwick bubble and #GuernseyTogether spirit organisors and GSPCA team members Beckie Bailey and Nicolle Morgan were able to reschedule and run what was a fabulous evening.
With dozens of raffle prizes and dozens of participants the pub was full with supporters raising funds for the many animals in our care.
Last week British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Jersey rescued a poorly seal pup spotted on Les Écréhous.

Geoff George Head of Marine Mammals at the GSPCA said “Joey was extremely thin when he arrived but remains very feisty which is a good sign.”
