This week a number of the GSPCA team were lucky enough to attend the Association of Dog and Cat Homes Conference in Birmingham which was an amazing experience meeting over 500 animal charity professionals and volunteers learning from leading charity and animal welfare experts.
On Wednesday 1st May as part of the conference the ADCH and Petplan Awards took place with one of the finalists being our very own GSPCA Animal care Assistant Beckie Bailey.
Tonight the Petplan and the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) hold their seventh Animal Charity Awards. The awards celebrate the outstanding work of staff and volunteers in animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands.
The team at the GSPCA are very excited that Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal Care Assistant and all round star for the Shelter from nearly 5000 nominations is one of three finalists for the Animal Charity Employee of the Year.

Petplan has worked closely with animal rehoming centres for over 30 years and sees first-hand the fantastic work that goes on to help improve the welfare of animals. These awards provide an opportunity to recognise the dedication and commitment of charities and give pet owners a chance to say 'thank you'.

Last week the GSPCA hosted and welcomed almost 40 animal charities and professionals from around the British Isles and Ireland to discuss best practice and challenges to the sector.
The focus of the meeting was on microchipping with leading experts from the sector visiting Guernsey to head a discussion panel to the charity members of the ADCH.
