Currently Darren Carre is on day 3 of the Marathon des Sables 2014. He finished his second day in an amazing 8 hours 3 minutes and 594th place and his first day in 7 hours 7 minutes and in a fantastic 552nd place.
This Blog is written by the very brave Darren Carre or Daz as his friends know him -
I am currently embarking on an adventure (or torture as some say!) of a lifetime in which I hope to raise £2000 for each of my chosen charities. So if you've seen me out running in even the most horrific of weather, this is why!!
The Challenge:
In April 2014 Daz Carre will be running the Marathon Des Sables, a 155 mile run through the Sahara Desert which takes place in 100 degree temperatures. This is pretty extreme.
He'll be doing this for the Specsavers Children's Charity and the GSPCA and The Tav has decided to help him out in his fund raising efforts by throwing a party for him - after all, we might not see him again!
The GSPCA are extremely grateful to the Bumblebee Boat Cruise team who this year raised funds on their stand at the North Show in August.
Their stall was extremely busy with Bumblebee face painting and their free drawer of trips on their boat and they managed to raise the grand sum of £235.20.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'We must pass on a huge thank you to all of the Bumblebee Boat Cruise team.'
Car Boot Sale in aid of the GSPCA on Sunday October 13th 9am set up for a 10am start until 2pm.
It will be held at the Homemaker Car Park, Lowlands Industrial Site, St Sampsons with food, drink and face painting available.
Pitch Price £5 and to book a place please call 245802 ext 2.
Kindly sponsored by the co-operative home maker.
