Rescued kittens covered in fly strike now doing well at the GSPCA

Submitted by Steve on 22:51, 6th Oct, 2015 | 0

On Thursday last week the GSPCA ambulance was called out to two very young kittens in desperate need.

The call came from Les Fauconnaires where two young kittens at only 4-5 weeks were found covered in fleas and fly strike with no mother in site.

The area was searched for any signs of other kittens and the two rescued were transported to the vets as they were cold and in need of veterinary care.

Thank you to all that supported our stall at all 8 Seafront Sundays including our BIG day

Submitted by Steve on 12:45, 3rd Oct, 2015 | 0

This year the GSPCA attended every Seafront Sunday with a stall.

To run the GSPCA and care for the 1000's of animals we help every year costs £2000 a day and we are always looking for ways to raise the much needed funds to care and rescue those in need.

Last Sunday was the last of the 8 Seafront Sundays and we would like to thank the organisors of the other 7 for allowing us to bring a stall to raise the funds and talk to the community and visitors about our work, how they can help and the animals in need of homes.

Guernsey has restrictions on a number of beaches during the Summer months which are then lifted during the Winter.

With the restrictions lifted the GSPCA would like to remind pet owners to be mindful of the Wildlife that live and feed along the shorelines.

Here is a breakdown of the restrictions which have been lifted as of the 1st October until the 30th April.

Once in a Lunar Eclipse - A 3am stray with a difference

Submitted by Steve on 08:19, 30th Sep, 2015 | 0

Last night the GSPCA Warden was called out by Guernsey Police to a stray that we don't see every day.

Each year around 200 stray dogs and 500+ stray cats find their way to the Shelter as well as many other species of pets.

We are also called at least 10 times a month to help with stray horses and farm animals. Thankfully most of the farm animals and horses we are called out to can be reunited with their owners or secured in a nearby field fairly quickly and easily.
