This Sunday the GSPCA will once again be on the Seafront for the first EDABL Seafront Sunday and first of the year taking place in St Peter Port.
This Sunday from 10am till 4pm the GSPCA are delighted to say we will be joining the EDABL Seafront Sunday to raise much needed funds and promote the work of the Animal Shelter.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We always have great fun at the Seafront Sundays and not only are we looking forward to this weekend, we are appealing for volunteers to help at the first EDABL Seafront Sunday on the 7th May."
We are very lucky that most of Guernsey's beaches are dog friendly during the summer months. Saying this dogs are banned between 1st May and 30th September on the following –
Fermain
Petit Bot
L'Erée
Vazon (Northern end)
Cobo
Port Soif
L'Ancresse
Pembroke
Dogs are not permitted on Lihou Island and Lihou causeway all year round.
The Customer Service Awards 2023, refreshed, revamped and presented by Island FM & Channel 103 opened nominations on the GSPCA 150th anniversary on the 14th February this year and recently closed for the judges to look at the nominations.
After a hiatus of four years, there Customer Service Awards highlighted there is more reason than ever to praise our Island’s hard workers.
The GSPCA desperately needs to build a Small Animal Department.
It recent years at the GSPCA we have seen a sharp increase in the numbers of rabbits, small animals, birds and reptiles in need of our help.
We are appealing for your help to build a Small Animal Department and really need your help.
Thankfully we have an area which was our on-site Charity Shop which moved into Smith Street meaning we have a section to develop which is now underway , but we really need your help.
We celebrate our 150 year history this year and we couldn’t do so much without our incredible team of staff, volunteers and supporters.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We have never been so busy as we have been in current years and with plans of new builds to meeting every day demands we are currently recruiting for additional team members at the GSPCA.”
“Sadly some of our fantastic staff are off for new adventures and we are looking to recruit those keen to help animals, make a difference and support our community.”

From the moment I walked in to the Excel to register and collect my race number to the moment I crossed that finish line, I can honestly say, it was worth it and so so much fun.
Friday night GSPCA Volunteer Ambulance Warden had a call of a seal pup on the slip way in Pleinmont.

Suzy Rose GSPCA Volunteer Ambulance Warden said “We had a call on the GSPCA Emergency helpline from a member of public concerned abouts a young seal pup on Friday night.”
After more than a 5 months for Shakespeare rescued in Jersey in October and Emilia the Guernsey pup with over 4 months of care having being rescued in October worth of care today both were released back into the waters where they belong.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “This year we celebrate 150 years and today we had a very special release when we got Shakespeare and Emilia the grey seal pups back to the wild.”
