It is amazing how we are supported in such a range of ways at the GSPCA.
We need to say a huge thanks to Bourse Trust Company who recently held a cake sale in aid of our 24/7 work helping 1000’s of animals every year and raised an amazing £103.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are in awe in the many ways those that care about our animal welfare work support us at the GSPCA carry out our 24/7 work.”
“We recently received an amazing donation of £103 from Bourse Trust Company who held a cake sale in aid of all of what we do at the GSPCA.”
Huge thanks Situations Recruitment helping the GSPCA who last month spent another day helping out at the GSPCA.
Situations Recruitment are incredible supporters of the work we do and we cannot thank them all enough for the amazing and continued support.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “On the 17th April 4 of the team from Situations Recruitment spent the day helping us at the GSPCA and on the 22nd June we had a further 5 members of their team at the GSPCA.”
As sunny weather continues the GSPCA are expecting to receive calls and reports from the public from dogs locked in cars, dogs being walked on hot pavements, animals in direct sunlight, wildlife in need and we want to remind all pet owners of the real dangers to their pets and how you can help wildlife.
With the extreme warm weather and direct sunlight, dogs and other animals whether in cars or their pens are potentially in a situation where you could kill your pet if it is left, regardless of the situation.
For over 151 years the GSPCA has strived to improve animal welfare in Guernsey.
On the 18th July 2024 the States of Guernsey voted through 7 animal welfare proposals including banning snares and gin traps.
It did however not vote on all proposals. The new laws will require the 3 veterinary practices, nurses and visiting vets to be registered with the States of Guernsey.
The GSPCA investigate causes of concern to cruelty and help animals in need 24/7 and these laws are very much welcomed but could we do more?
Lee and Roz Harris will be walking from Glasgow to Fort William along the West Highland Way in August 2024 in support of the GSPCA.
Lee Harris said “This is a a 102 mile route across the wild landscapes of Scotland and the country's best loved long distance walking route.”
“Roz and I have adopted animals for the GSPCA in the past and passionately support the work that this charity does.
The GSPCA are delighted to announce that soon the last 3 seal pups in our care will be back in the wild.
