Sami the seal pup continues to improve at the GSPCA.
Sami was rescued on a beach in Jersey just after Christmas starving and unwell.
If she hadn’t have been rescued by the JSPCA and BDMLR volunteers she would have certainly perished.
Nearly two months on from her rescue we are pleased to report she is growing stronger each day and eating at least 20 to 30 mackerel and herring.
The team are extremely pleased with her progress at the GSPCA but she is some months off being strong enough and of a healthy weight to be released back to the wild.
We are pleased to report that Catrina the stray cat that was found at L'Islet after a road traffic accident nearly two weeks ago has had her operation yesterday at Isabelle Vets.
We are extremely grateful to all that have donated and an amazing £600 has been raised to date and thank you to all that are helping Catrina and of course her many friends at the GSPCA.

Next week from Monday is your chance not only to see behind the scenes at the GSPCA but also a chance to handle and meet some of the friendly pets at the Shelter.
During the school breaks we run a series of guided tours at the GSPCA and we have now planned for 2016 with some special tours for the children. You can also book a tour for a special event or birthday. For details on special tours please see below.
This is your opportunity to visit behind the scenes at our Animal Shelter in St Andrews and see the work being carried out for the new build.
Catrina the cat is still at the vets and as we write this has gone to be operated on.
A huge thank you to all that have donated so far to her care, sadly we still have no idea who she belongs to but she has been improving each day.
We all have our fingers crossed for her and she will have to stay at the vets over the weekend at the very least.
Today the GSPCA have just put up for rehoming over 101 Dalmatians.
The dogs were brought in as the owner decided they could no longer care for them.
From puppies to adults the many dogs are as yet to be named.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "The team have been kept very with so many new dogs in need of homes."
"We have never seen so many Dalmatians in one place in Guernsey."
"They are all shapes and sizes from puppies to adults and at the GSPCA we would love to find them their forever homes."
Today marks 21 years since the Sea Empress disaster and next month on the 18th March marks 50 years since the Torrey Canyon disaster.
In 1996 GSPCA Shelter staff and volunteers were called on to help with one of the biggest oil disasters to hit the British shores.
When the Sea Empress ran a ground in Pembrokeshire on the 15th February over 72,000 tons of crude oil and 360 tons of heavy fuel poured into the sea in less than a week.
Tens of thousands of animals were effected and the RSPCA launched a massive rescue operation.
You may remember Catrina the stray cat who was rescued collapsed, soaking wet, starving and with no hair or skin on her tail last week.
Catrina was in such a poor state she has had to stay at the vets where she has received intensive, around the clock care.
It is highly likely she was hit by a vehicle although had a number of other health issues when she was found.
She has been growing stronger each day but she will need an operation on her pelvis which with her care is going to cost nearly a £1000.
From all the GSPCA we wish a Happy Valentines to one and all and did you know we share this day of love as the GSPCA celebrates 144 years helping animals in Guernsey and we need your help.
The GSPCA was founded on the 14th February 1873 and we are asking for your support to help the 24/7 work we carry out here at the GSPCA.
Not only do we care for around 350 animals a day at the Shelter we have many essential projects we need to achieve and many animals to care for.
For the last 8 weeks the GSPCA have been caring for Sami the grey seal pup who was rescued sick and extremely thin at the end of December in Jersey.
We are pleased to report that Sami is growing stronger each day and eating fish extremely well.
Sami is still a long way off being ready to be released back to the wild and we are appealing for your support to help feed Sami.
Geoff George GSPCA Animal Collection Officer and head carer of marine mammals said "We are so pleased how Sami is doing and especially how well Sami is eating."
