Thank you to the students of Blanchelande College for helping at the Shelter last Friday

Last Friday as part of their Service to the Community Day 22 students and 2 teachers from Blanchelande College spent the day at the GSPCA Animal Shelter.
From running a Coffee Morning to Cake Sale, Bric-a-brac Sale to walking dogs, cleaning out the seal room to washing out pools, and not to mention a very important job.......
The students helped in many areas and one of the most important was helping in some early preparations for the GSPCA's BIGGEST event of the year.
On the 15th September the second Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday takes place and the students were helping sort the Giant Animal Mascot Suits in preparation and also get them into training.
This year to take part in the Giant Animal Mascot Activity Race it is a minimum sponsorship of £50 and for this not only do you get to take part in the race, but also 2 adverts in our quarterly newsletter, online and a being par of a fantastic event.
There are a number of races we are planning including -
Local Mascots including our Bernard the GSPCA dog.
A Children's Animal Mascot Race (free of charge)
A Deputies Race (please contact [email protected] for registering and details)
A Media Race (please contact [email protected] for registering and details)
And of course the main race which we are appealing for Businesses, Local Groups, Pubs, Hotels or even individuals for the minimum sponsorship of £50.
We are currently contacting last years runners to see if they would like to take part with the suit they used in 2012 so others may be available soon.

We are extremely thankful to all the students from Blanchelande College and the teachers for their help last Friday and for the wonderful cakes which helped raise £86 on the day.

'From helping fold leaflets, walking dogs, sweeping and mopping, the great cakes and of course getting involved with some pictures and video clips of the Giant Animal Mascot Suits they all did a great job.'
'We finished the day awarding each one with a certificate of thanks and a few have arranged to come back as volunteers.'

Every Tuesday during term time between 10.30am and 12pm at the GSPCA we have a coffee morning with bric-a-brac and pet supplies on sale (free entry) also guided tours at £5 per person minimum donation available at 11am. Please click here for more details
