Last night at the Market Bistro the GSPCA held its first Bingo Night.
The Pie & Mash Bingo Bash as it was called took place within the inner market building where the Market Bistro and their team catered, fed an watered the budding bingo players.
With over 60 in attendance the money raised was in aid of the GSPCA and helping animals in Guernsey.
For just £14.50 for adults and £10.50 for children the price included 8 games of bingo and at the interval a buffet style pie and mash.
Each table had a theme and a story, as each was named after an animal either in the care or had been at the GSPCA.
At the mid interval when the food was served there were 4 pies which included steak & mushroom, chicken, vegetarian and a very popular wheat, gluten and dairy free option, all served with some lovely mash. Many had seconds and a few even had thirds.
With dabbers on sale and a lot of bingo lingo called, the audience certainly got involved with 'Beep Beeps' for 53 to whistling for 'Legs 11'.
There were prizes for the first line of which we had double winners on two of the rounds which each had a GSPCA teddy and some had cash prizes. The final game had the grand prize sum of £100 and the very unlikely winning number was '13'.
Sarah Ozanne couldn't believe her eyes when the number was called and even more shocked were the crowd that the infamous 13 was the winning number for the biggest pot.
Sarah Ozanne the winner of the main prize said "I really couldn't believe it I looked and saw I had only two numbers left and then they were both called with unlucky 13 being the winner."
"We had a really great time on our table and the food was lovely."
Yvonne Chauvel who attended said "What a fabulous night, we all had a great time."
Frances Browning who attended said "Fabulous evening! Thank you to everyone at the GSPCA see you at the next one!"
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager and Bingo Lingo Caller said "It really was a wonderful night, with lovely people having lots of fun raising funds to help animals in Guernsey."
"From all that went and the GSPCA a huge thank you to Shaun and the team at the Market Bistro for making it such a great event and fantastic food."
"I think we were all a little shocked that the number 13 was drawn as the grand prize winner of £100."
"There were two surprised ladies, Sue Digard and Yvonne Blundell as we brought out a birthday cake for each with some giant sparkly candles and we all sang to them."
"We have already penciled in the next date for another Bingo evening which will be on Tuesday the 16th September at the Market Bistro and this one will have a Mexican theme as it is the Mexican Independence Day."
"If there are any pubs or groups that would like to have a bingo night in aid of the GSPCA then we have all the kit here ready to go from the bingo machine to a PA system, the books and even dabbers to sell on the night."
"Thank you to everyone involved and supported the GSPCA Pie and Mash Bingo Bash, it was a great night and we are still totaling the amount raised and will let everyone know soon."
