We are pleased to update that Bonnie the grey seal pup rescued over a month ago on the South coast of Guernsey continues to improve despite having a recent worm burden.
Bonnie was off her fish for a couple of days but is now back to her old appetite eating kilo's of fish every day.
It is not unusual for seals to be subject to worms and whilst in captivity it is easily resolved.
We continue to work with local Vet, Born Free Senior Consultant Vet and GSPCA President John Knight to ensure she receives all treatments to help her on the road to recovery and her weight continues to increase.
Geoff George Animal Collection Officer said "Bonnie wasn't eating well for a few days and after giving her some worming treatment she soon improved and is now back to eating plenty of fish."
"Bonnie is enjoying her time out in the rehabilitation pool at the GSPCA and loves it when the hose is on."
"It's a long process rehabilitating what was a very sick and emaciated seal pup."
"Bonnie the seal pup is currently next to Olivia the loggerhead turtle and we are doing everything we can to get them both back to health and back in the wild."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Bonnie had a few days where she wasn't keen on her fish but after a treatment for worms she is now once again eating well and continues to improve each day."
"We are hoping it won't be long until we can get her back into the wild although she still needs to gain some weight and strength."
"We will be upgrading Bonnie into our larger pool in our wildlife unit at the GSPCA in the next few days and will of course keep everyone up to date."
"Thank you to all that have donated to her care so far and you can still help by donating online, calling 257261 or at our Shelter in St Andrews."
"We would love to refurbish the wildlife facilities at the GSPCA and you can donate online towards this or if you or your company would like to help please do get in touch."
