On Sunday night a very old, thin, weak sick cat was found on the Bridge in St Sampson's and brought into the GSPCA.
With no microchip or collar and tag the cat is now under the care of the team at the Animal Shelter.
'Dude' as he has been affectionately named is a black and white short haired cat that has many health problems and is painfully thin.
It is likely that Dude is close to 20 years of age, but with the condition he is in it is hard to be precise.
We are appealing for his owner to come forward and it is likely he was someones pet at some point as he is very affectionate and has been neutered.
He has seen the vet and needs to go for a number of blood tests to find out why he is so thin and to explain his health issues.
Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant said "Poor 'Dude' as we have called him is so emaciated and was covered from head to tail in fleas and flea dirt."
"We are really worried for this old, stray cat as he has many health problems and he is off to the vets in the morning for tests."
"We are appealing for Dude's owner, but with all his health issues it is unlikely he has been cared for in some time."
"If you think Dude is your cat please call us on 01481 257261."
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "Poor Dude the stray cat arrived on Sunday evening in a really bad way and the team at the GSPCA are doing every thing we can for this lovely friendly, but very frail old cat."
"If only Dude had been microchipped we could have easily found his owner and at the GSPCA we do it for just £4.99."
"We help over 1000 cats every year at the GSPCA in different ways and like Dude we are always looking to reunite the strays with their owners, but for the many that do not get claimed we really need donations to help towards their care."
"From Betty the English Bull Terrier to Jubilee the stray get with the injured eye we have many in our care that are receiving treatment."
"It is a huge year with our rebuild and all support is hugely appreciated."
