The GSPCA couldn’t carry out saving, rescuing and caring for the thousands of animals that come through the doors every year without the support of the staff and volunteers that work tirelessly every day and night.

To recognise the team at the GSPCA we have been asking for nominations to recognise the staff and volunteers for their dedication, hard work and outstanding effort.

Nominations were accepted both in house, online and via the post and we received an overwhelming number of wonderful comments for five staff in particular and fifteen volunteers each quarter.

Each of these individuals have been recognised as the Staff Member or Volunteer of Spring 2014 with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Next week is National Volunteers Week and each day we will focus on groups and individuals that help at the Shelter and the work of the GSPCA.

We will also be at the OSA Recruitment Pop Up Shop during parts of Friday next week if you would like to find out about volunteering with the GSPCA.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said ‘Once again it was so heart warming with all the wonderful to read all of the comments for the team.’

‘We really do appreciate every volunteer and staff member, but the quarterly awards give an opportunity for others to put names forward to be recognised for outstanding work and commitment.’

‘The seven staff Kip, Sue, Helen Holmes, Yvonne, Becca, Annie and Sarah Creasey had such wonderful nominations.’

‘All of the staff go over and above what is expected and a huge thanks must go to all of the team for everything they do.’

‘What can I say about our volunteers, we have through a year over 300 helping in one way or other and every single one is a star in their own right and we really do appreciate them all.’

‘Susan, Chrissie, Duncan, Fleur, Corinne, Joe, Bridget, Dave, Matt, Jen, Anna, the two Paul’s and Natalie are just a few of the amazing individuals that we have volunteer at the Shelter and are those that have been nominated by others for everything that they do to help animals, fund raise, night warden, dress as a giant mascot, walk dogs, cuddle cats, clean out and generally help ensure that the GSPCA has the support that it needs to carry out its work 24 hours a day 7 days a week.’

'Once again reading the comments and nominations was an extremely emotional thing to do as the comments of such wonderful individuals was extremely humbling.'

'It's Volunteers Week next week and we will be celebrating by talking about some of our wonderful volunteers that help each day and mentioning those wonderful businesses that have helped.'

Talking of helpful businesses we have the Property Link sponsoring our dog show at Fairfields this weekend and have 20 volunteers helping from Barclays.'

'We also have volunteers from Lloyds Bank coming in for two days next week to help at the Shelter.

‘A thank you must go out to everyone involved in helping animals in Guernsey and if you wish to nominate a staff member or volunteer then the next quarter for nominations is now open and you can vote by emailing me, writing in to the Shelter or leaving a message at reception.’
