Last week the GSPCA team were overjoyed to wave off the largest fish ever in our care to his new home.
Bruce at over 18 inches in length arrived at the GSPCA in March 2016 and for over 5 years we have been trying to find him a new home.
Yvonne Chauvel Senior Animal Care Assistant said “Bruce is certainly the largest fish I have cared for at the GSPCA and the biggest we have probably ever had.”
“Bruce is a Plecostomus and spends most of his time relaxing and we really hope he will adore his new home.”
“Bruce wasn’t alone as he went off to his new home with his catfish friends Mr Ray, Sheldon and Flo.”
“They were the last tropical fish at the moment in need of a home at the GSPCA but we have two tanks of gold fish and two tanks of musk turtles, not to mention many other animals at the GSPCA.”
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “I remember the day we had to collect Bruce and friends and for over 5 years we have tried our best to find this very large Plecostomus a new home.”
“We love seeing any animal find their forever home and although Bruce didn’t do a lot he has been with us and seen all sorts and we all wish him well with his new owner as well as Mr Ray, Sheldon and Flo.”
“We have lots of animals in need of homes at the GSPCA including fish, turtles, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, ferrets, degus, a stick insect, cockerel, birds and others.”
“Please remember if you live in rented accommodation or States Housing you need to ensure you have written permission and to see the States Housing procedure please go to https://www.gov.gg/article/119684/Family--Pets .”
“To see some of the animals looking for homes at the GSPCA Animal Shelter please watch our Social Media pages or go to http://www.gspca.org.gg/animals. ”
“Animals come into the Shelter for all sorts of reasons and we have to ensure each is suited to a home that can meet its needs.”
“The GSPCA is a self-supporting Guernsey charity and we depend on the people of the Island for the funding needed, more so now than ever to maintain our work for the animal welfare and rescue work that is carried out 24 hours 7 days a week.”
