The death of Dillon the cat hit many islanders very hard as he was a friend to many that frequent St Peter Port.
He spent much of his time Paint and Sons' Jewelers and the staff there have received many cards and donations in loving memory of the wonderful 5 year old feline.
It is believed during the awful recent weather and high tides that Dillon may have been taken by the waves as they crashed over the walls along the front of St Peter Port.
It is sad that the recent storms have taken tens of thousands of animals and birds lives over the last two months and the GSPCA have been working tirelessly rescuing and caring for many at the Shelter in St Andrews.
A grand sum of £100 has been raised and this is being shared between Guernsey Animal Aid Cats and the GSPCA who between them rescue, rehome and help thousands of Guernseys cats every year.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'Dillon was a real star and he will be missed by many but for those that have donated towards his memory we would like to say that his memory will live on as it will help the cats here at the GSPCA and also at Guernsey Animal Aid Cats.'
'The cards in memory of Dillon were extremely touching and he certainly was a much loved cat of the community.'
'Thank you to the team of Paint and Sons' Jewelers for organising and passing on this wonderful donation.'
'It has been an awful start to 2014 with storms and high winds and from rescuing seals to dolphins, seabirds to hedgehogs we are all hopeful that the weather will improve to give the many wild animals and birds time to recover.'
