The current pandemic has caused many challenges at the GSPCA as it has with everyone and across the world and we are incredibly thankful to all that have helped us with our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal so far it is so appreciated and we couldn’t do so much without your support.
As well as much needed funds at the GSPCA there are a range of items we are desperately in need of. The largest is wish list item is a new GSPCA Animal Ambulance. Which has come at the worst time as we are so incredibly busy in Spring
Following the States of Guernsey announcement about the Coronavirus Pandemic many of our services, events, boarding, and income streams have stopped and we really need your help.
Although we remain committed to looking after all of the animals in our care and rescuing those in need, the restrictions and safety procedures we have in place are causing many challenges.
With running costs of £2,000 a day NEVER have we needed your support more than we do today.
With Christmas less than 2 weeks away many are finishing their Christmas shopping, holding Christmas themed mufti days and thinking of those in need.
With over 500 animals at the GSPCA there are many ways to support the those in our care and also help them have a wonderful Christmas.
From Gift Vouchers to help feed an animal at Christmas to Sponsoring a Pen, Buying a Brick for the much needed Wildlife Hospital to our Amazon and main page Wish List, holding a mufti day to a sponsored Christmas dip, here are some of the ways you could help give animals joy this Christmas.
Thanks to Guernsey Post, Donkey Logic and Colour Monster leaflets were dropped around Guernsey yesterday to promote our fund raising appeal to help raise funds for a new Wildlife Hospital here in Guernsey.
With over 2000 wild animals through our doors every year we help more wild animals than domestic every year and with the current facilities decades old and in desperate need of repairs and updating the GSPCA are appealing for your support to build a better future for the wildlife of Guernsey.
There are a number of ways you can help donate to this much needed project –
Today is #WorldWildlifeDay and with over 2000 wild animals through the GSPCA doors every year we need your support with our proposed new Wildlife Hospital which recently received planning permission.
This much needed facility is planned to replace a number of old buildings some which date back to the 1940’s.
Last year the GSPCA launched a fundraising campaign for the facility and now the planning has been granted the fundraising for the facility is a major priority.
Last week the States of Guernsey Planning Department gave the approval for the plans for the proposed new Wildlife Hospital at the GSPCA.

With just over £50,000 pledged or raised currently there is still a long way to the £900,000 required to build the GSPCA Wildlife Hospital.
Harley the staffy has been at the GSPCA for just over a month looking for a home so spent her Christmas at the GSPCA.
This very sweet, loving dog has stolen the hearts of the staff and volunteers and indeed everyone she meets.
Earlier this week Harley visited Isabelle Vets for a spay check to ensure she was neutered.
All of Harleys health checks since her arrival showed a healthy staffy but when she went to the vets and was put under anesthetic they found a very angry, rapid growing growth an one of her legs.
At the GSPCA only hours ago we had a box of approximately 10kg of fresh fish delivered to the Shelter by Mr. Brian Billion who had been out fishing with his family earlier today especially for the 3 seal pups at the GSPCA.
The donation was kindly accepted from reception by the Community and Training Officer Tim Pellet who said “What a wonderful donation of the freshest fish we have seen this year for the 3 seal pups.
“I told Mr Billion that the seals would more than likely be enjoying their feast within the hour and we have pictures already of Gully tucking into them.”
With over 500 animals in our care we are extremely busy at the GSPCA and are appealing for blankets and especially towels to help to provide them with bedding, to help with handling and drying off.
So if you are having an early Spring clean and clearing out your airing cupboard or sorting through your linen please think of the many animals in our care.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We use hundreds of towels and blankets every day at the GSPCA and our 4 laundry machines are on around the clock."
Ellie is a very loving and sweet 8 year old Cocker Spaniel.
She arrived in the autumn at the GSPCA after her owner sadly passed away and has been treated for a mouth infection and some other ailments.
Once she was feeling much better she was booked in to be spayed which took place last week.
Sadly during Ellie’s operation a very large mass was discovered on her spleen and Ellie has had to have emergency surgery.
