Only a weekend to go and the GSPCA will be opening the doors in Smith Street to our Pop Up Charity Shop all thanks to OSA Recruitment.
This Sunday staff and volunteers will be setting up from 12pm to get ready for the official opening on Monday morning.
Helen Holmes from the Shelter will open the shop doors at 9am and volunteers will help man the shop 9am until 5.30pm for shoppers to pick up a wonderful selection of pet products, GSPCA goods and bric-a-brac.
Tomorrow night is the second of the Late Night Shopping in St Peter Port.
The GSPCA once again will be on the Pollet with some animal friends so please pop along to see our stall.
This Thursday we have a number of new items on sale which are ideal presents from only £1. But please remember all of these items are on sale at the GSPCA Animal Shelter and will also be available at our Pop Up Charity Shop at OSA Recruitment in Smith from next week.
Below is a list of opening times for the GSPCA.
Please remember that in the case of an emergency, sick, injured or stray animal(s) please call 01481 257261 and choose the 24 hour emergency option.
The GSPCA officially stop rehoming on the 15th December until the 2nd January but some animals may be suitable during these periods. The GSPCA do not believe in pets as presents and each home is looked at individually as is the pet.
GSPCA volunteers once again will be in town for the Late Night Shopping this evening and every Thursday with the run up to Christmas.
This year the GSPCA will be on the Pollet outside Joules with a selection of pet and GSPCA goods.
There will also be the chance to see one or two of our Giant Animal Mascots so please pop along and support us.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said 'No matter what the weather we will be there as we were last year handing out free lolly pops and getting into the festive spirit.'
This is one lucky Christmas Robin!
Now named Blessing this little robin has been brought into the GSPCA after being attacked by a cat.
Blessing is in a hospital cage and we are hopeful for him to pull through and to be back in the wild before Christmas.
Hundreds of birds are brought into the GSPCA every year after cat attacks and we would urge owners of cats to use safety collars with bells to help give our feathered friends a chance.
Below is a list of forth coming events and if you can help or would like more information please do get in touch -
Every Tuesday up to and including the 18th December 2012 between 10.30am and 12pm Coffee Morning and Bric-a-brac sale at the Animal Shelter - http://www.gspca.org.gg/blog/tuesday-coffee-mornings-and-bric-brac-sale-gspca-animal-shelter-next-week-link-centre-students-
This Tuesday staff saw a very unusual site.
Geoff George the GSPCA Animal Collection Officer whilst going about his duties watched as a cormorant flew down and landed on the Christmas Lottery Ticket poster at the Shelter. Is this a sign of good luck? We don't know but tickets are selling well and are available at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm, so if you are passing please pop in.
For only five pounds you can buy a gift certificate that will give one of the animals in our care a fantastic Christmas.
That’s right you will receive a certificate for yourself or someone you care for and that will enable us at the Shelter to give the animals in our care a very special Christmas Day.
The Association of Guernsey Charities announced at the end of October that tickets for the 2012 Christmas Lottery went on sale for only £1 each. The GSPCA Animal Shelter can now announce that from tomorrow they will be on sale at the GSPCA reception desk in St Andrews. The traditional lottery always proves to be a popular choice as it offers the chance of winning a large sum of money - and all the proceeds are given to Channel Island charities.
As well as the GSPCA tickets are on sale at shops, stores, supermarkets, garages, and many other outlets around the island.
The GSPCA is appealing for bottles and prizes for our Tombola Stall that we will have at the the Guernsey Round Table Christmas Fayre will be held at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre from 10 am to 4 pm this weekend on Sunday 18th November 2012.
If you can help please pop any donations up to the Animal Shelter in St Andrews. If you have any time and would like to help on the stall please contact Welfare and Education Officer Emma Trousdale by calling the Shelter 01481 257261 or email [email protected]
Entry to the Christmas Fayre is free.
