Volunteers Week - GSPCA dog training volunteers are ABSOLUTELY PAWSOME!

Submitted by Steve on 14:04, 3rd Jun, 2021 | 0

As many people know we have been running our amazing dog training classes at the Shelter for over two decades during which time we have been VERY ‘fur’tunate (sorry) to have some wonderful volunteers dedicating their time and expertise to help us promote responsible dog ownership, welfare in dog training and, of course, help owners navigate their way through what can seem a mine field of owning and training a new pooch.

Volunteers Week – Thank you for your incredible support and how to get involved

Submitted by Steve on 12:51, 2nd Jun, 2021 | 0

The GSPCA really could not do so much without its amazing team of volunteers and supporters.

From the Committee to those that walk dogs, fund raisers to those that help with admin, dog trainers to cattery cleaners, gardeners to those helping with IT, the companies who send their staff to help to so many others the list goes on and on.

The last 18 months has certainly been incredibly difficult and especially so for the GSPCA and providing our 24/7 services with all the bio-security rules in place, and many still as the team still work in many challenging circumstances.

Last Thursday the GSPCA was called during a rising tide to one of the outcrops at Bordeaux Harbour to rescue a snake.

The grey and black  photos of the animals were sent to the GSPCA Animal Ambulance Warden Suzy Rose who called the GSPCA Manager and informed the States Vet.

The pictures were scrutinised by many of the team and although some concerns were raised we are here to help animals and a plan was made to venture to the grassy outcrop of rocks when the next low tide occurred during daylight hours.

WEATHER WARNING FROM THE GSPCA - Hot Cars Kill Dogs

Submitted by Steve on 11:01, 1st Jun, 2021 | 0

With the recent hot weather the GSPCA always receives calls and reports from the public that have seen dogs locked in cars, dogs being walked on hot pavements, animals in direct sunlight and we want to remind all pet owners of the real dangers to their pets.

With the warm weather and direct sunlight, dogs and other animals whether in cars or their pens are potentially in a situation where you could kill your pet if it is left, regardless of the situation.

REWARD OFFERED FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE RETURN OF FOUR MISSING PUGS.

Submitted by Steve on 16:54, 28th May, 2021 | 0

A reward has been offered for information leading to the return of 4 pugs that have been missing from the Valnord Hill area of St Peter Port since 29 March 2021.

Three of the dogs are beige and one is black. One dog is very distinctive as due to a birth defect it only has half an ear on one side. At the time of disappearing one of the beige pugs was heavily pregnant and due to give birth any day.

Do your neighbours suddenly have more dogs than usual, or do they have a new pug. Have you been offered a pug puppy in the last 2 months Have you heard an increase in dogs barking?
