Appeal to help with our broken sewage pump

Submitted by Steve on 09:43, 1st Apr, 2015 | 0

At the GSPCA with 200 to 300 animals in our care which do produce rather a lot of waste and we are continually working to improve and maintain our facilities.

Currently we are replacing 5 of our very old buildings with our new multi purpose animal welfare building, but we continue to have to repair and maintain the site where the many animals are kept and the services to them.

On the weekend our sewage pump failed which serves the many buildings on site and we are currently appealing for funds to help us repair this essential service.

Update on Bertie the stray dog as the search continues 3 months on

Submitted by Steve on 10:22, 11th Feb, 2015 | 0

Over 3 months since going missing we continue to search for Bertie the missing Schnauzer.

Up until the early hours of yesterday morning and despite using a number of wildlife cameras, sightings have been sketchy at best of Bertie until the report we received at 1.15am on Tuesday.

Just after midnight we had what sounds like a very positive report, and both the spotter and friends, as well as GSPCA wardens spent some time in the early hours looking for possible signs of the missing dog.

The search for Bertie the stray schnauzer - please share and watch for him in the L'Ancresse & Bordeaux area

Submitted by Steve on 16:37, 13th Jan, 2015 | 0

The search of Bertie continues 2 months since he first went missing due to fireworks early November.

The main areas of possible sightings recently have been around L'Ancresse & Bordeaux.

If you do see him or a dog like him please note the time and try to get a photo or video if possible.

Wildlife cameras have been placed in strategic positions in the hope we can pin point his location.

We would like to highlight that Bertie is a very timid little lad especially with men and people he doesn't know.

Please help us find this Jack Russells owner - Could she belong to your neighbour?

Submitted by Steve on 11:03, 13th Jan, 2015 | 0

Last Wednesday a female Jack Russell was found near the Performing Arts Centre in St Peter Port.

The white and tan, adult, female Jack Russell has no microchip and a purple collar with no details.

At the GSPCA we often see around 200 stray dogs a year, but it is very rare for a dog to be at the Shelter for more than 24 hours before we track the owner.

We have been out in the area trying to find her owner, sadly without success.

We have been sharing her information on social media, speaking to the police and other bodies in the hope of finding where she lives.
