The Management or the Victorianna Bar & Restaurant and the GSPCA would like to apologise as the Diamond Jubilee BBQ & Band 'City Limits' at the Victoriana Bar & Restaurant, L'Atlantique on the 4th June has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
We are so sorry to all of our supporters that were planning to attend us at this event for any inconevienance. We do have other events planned so we hope to see you at these and we would like to wish everyone a happy, safe and enjoyable Diamond Jubilee Weekend.
The GSPCA starts this spring on a good foot after a kind donation from the Friends of Wildlife.
£500 was donated earlier this year and the GSPCA has used the funds to put up two soft release runs for the wildlife that we have in our care. The outside pens will be used to rehabilitate the many wild animals and birds it has brought in that are found sick or injured around Guernsey.
After they are cared for, healthy and of a good weight the animals are placed in the mesh runs to get use to the elements so it is not a shock when they are finally released.
On sale now for a minimum donation of £2 the GSPCA launches a new pin badge.
The badges are on sale at the Shelter and for only £2 you can show that you care for animals in Guernsey. If you are looking for other GSPCA goodies we have a range of teddies, mugs, car stickers, fridge magnets, post cards and more.
All the money raised from the sale of the badges goes towards helping animals in Guernsey
This Sunday gone volunteers led by Corrine Connoly organised a sponsored dog walk which was also led by Corinne’s dog Sidney.
The route which was just under 5 miles went from Grandes Roques up to Pembroke Bay. Despite the weather over 20 volunteers and participants took part with over a dozen dogs that also helped with stewarding and taking part in the walk.
The weather with high winds and wet at times proved chilly and cold so many of the dogs wore coats to keep them warm and dry as well as their handlers with Sidney sporting a very nice flying jacket.
Tomorrow on Sunday 29th April Sidney a rescue dog called Sidney is inviting you to join lots of animal welfare owners and dogs to raise funds for those in need.
Sidney and his owner have organised a sponsored walk to raise funds for the GSPCA and Woodlands Farm Kennels which is where under their and the RSPCA care Sidney was adopted.
Corinne Connolly, Sidney and a group of GSPCA volunteers will be registering walkers from 1pm for a 2pm start at the Grandes Rocgues car park. The walk is just under 5 miles and will finish t The Beachouse at L'Ancresse.
Last week the children of Herm Primary School visited the GSPCA Animal Shelter after having joined in the GSPCA Cupcake fundraising week, raising a fantastic £40.
During Cupcake Week the children were all encouraged to bring in cupcakes to sell and they also spent the morning decorating some which had been brought in by Herm school teacher Mrs Mary Carey. The children handed over the money they raised to Emma Trousdale the GSPCA Education and Welfare Officer when they visited the Shelter last week.
