The Channel Islands Co-operative Society Limited will be donating 5% of its profits from pet food to the Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (GSPCA) Save Our Seals campaign.
Last year, the Co-op supported the Jersey Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (JSPCA) #SaveOurShelter campaign by donating 5% of pet food sales to the Animals’ Shelter.
The Society is now launching the same initiative in Guernsey where funds raised during April and May will go towards supporting the seal pups within the GSPCA’s care.
This evening (3rd April) from 5pm until 7pm and from 9am tomorrow (4th) the GSPCA will be at the 2019 EY Careers and Skills Show taking place at Beau Sejour.
With a wide variety of volunteer roles and vacancies currently at the GSPCA its a great chance to chat to members of the team and find out how to get involved.

Today is Ferret Day and many ferret owners will be celebrating with their wonderful pets.
In recent years we have seen a decrease in the number of stray and unwanted ferrets and currently we only have 2 ferrets in need of homes at the GSPCA.
If we just go back 5 to 10 years the GSPCA would often help over 50 ferrets a year and would often have 10 to 15 looking for new homes.
Currently there is just Whiffy and Tiffnay at the GSPCA two young ferrets in need.
Both came in last Summer from the St Andrews area and are currently looking for new homes.
Due to the recent inclement weather and rough seas the GSPCA have been struggling to source enough fish to feed the six seal pups that are rehabilitating at the GSPCA.
An Urgent Fish Appeal went out and we received some wonderful donations from local fisherman, individuals and companies but we have to say a huge thanks to Solent Clams Ltd.
When fish supplies were desperately low the team at the GSPCA contacted almost everyone they could think of.
146 years ago when the GSPCA was first founded road traffic incidents were something that know one would have understood and comprehended but in the fast world we now live sadly here in Guernsey they are all too common place.
In fact just last night another fatality occurred of a young cat which the GSPCA rushed too but sadly it was too late and nothing could be done.
Over recent years the GSPCA have seen anywhere between 150 and 300 cats killed on the roads of Guernsey every year and sadly far many death is very swift often through no fault of the driver.
Last week at the GSPCA we have three of the volunteers from the Guernsey Bereavement Service a guided tour of the GSPCA as a special thanks.
Last month the Guernsey Bereavement Service once again helped provide training to staff and volunteers at the GSPCA as we often have t hel those through the death of their pet.
Just last night GSPCA Wardens and the Manager helped a young cat that had been killed by a road traffic incident and the break the sad news to the owner who was extremely upset.
