Today the GSPCA were called to the car park next to Guernsey Airport for a very unusual stray.
We were called about a possible toad and on arrival GSPCA team member was faced with a very different animal.
Neil Hughes GSPCA team member said “Just after 11am we were called out to Guernsey Airport.”
“The call was to go and help a poorly toad but when I got there it wasn’t a toad at all but a very black water dragon.”
“The lizard is now back at the GSPCA in one of our vivarium’s.”
At the GSPCA we hear so many amazing stories of ways supporters raise funds to help our 24/7 work and the animals in our care.

Today marks 5 and a half weeks since a stray parrot was found and rescued in Vazon.
The very friendly adult Senegal Parrot arrived on the 25th June after being rescued by a member of the public and the GSPCA team are really shocked that an owner hasn’t come forward.
We are appealing for any information if you think you know the owner or if they are your birds please call the GSPCA on 257261.
At the GSPCA we are extremely busy and we are currently looking for new volunteers to join the team and recruiting new staff.
Tomorrow we have the second volunteer induction of 2022 and if you are interested in learning more just turn up at 630pm at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

The GSPCA in the last year has had the busiest year of cockerels and still have many lookijng for homes that arrived last year.
Many were reared as chicks and although the hens have found loving new homes the GSPCA has quite a few boys now in need.
Yvonne Chauvel Senior Animal Care Assistant said “Every year we help sick and injured cockerels but we have seen more than usual in the last year and have quite a few now in need of new homes.”
“If anyone can help find these or any of the animals in our care a new home please do get in touch.”
In May local tour guide Jean Bishop organised two events in aid of the GSPCA.
The events were called Water, Windows and Views which took place on the 25th May and the second was the Highways, Byways & Beaches A Walk in the West on the 31st May.
Jean said both were lovely events and raised a wonderful £60.

For the second year the fantastic team at Barras Car Centre on the 10th July ran a tombola stall in aid of the GSPCA at the Motor Seafront Sunday.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “A massive thank you to the Barras Car Centre who ran a stall in aid of the GSPCA at the Motor Seafront Sunday.”
“They raised over £300 and they had a great day and from all the animals and team we can’t thank them enough and the organisors and supporters.”
