This Sunday Giant Animal Mascot 5-a-side football event at 2pm, would like to join in?
Once again we will be holding a Giant Animal Mascot event but this year there are a big twist.
This is open to mascots and individuals prepared to dress as an animal and play a fun football game with a rather over sized ball.
We are asking businesses, pubs, individuals or anyone as a team of 5 or an individual and we can make extra teams on the day.
This Sunday once again we bring you a childrens fancy dress competition to help celebrate animals in Guernsey.
The Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday starts officially at 10am with set up from 8am and at 1.45pm Island Mums will be helping run a fun childrens fancy dress competition near the Crown Pier.
Islands Mums will also be helping with a number of activities at a kids corner including chalk drawing and more, not to mention the many other games and things to do on the day.
So please do come down and support the day and spread the word to family and friends.
This Sunday if you can help volunteer or have a vehicle you could help us transport goods we would love to hear from you.
We are planning to pack a number of vans in preparation this Friday ready to drive down for our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday at 7.30am.
If you could lend a van, especially a luton or large transit we would really appreciate it.
Every year it is a huge logistical challenge to transport the many tents, goods and animals from the GSPCA into St Peter Port.
With only days to go how is your dogs preparations going for the fun dog show that takes place this weekend.
On Sunday we hold the fifth Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday in Guernsey.
With stalls, fire engine, animals, games, kids area, giant animal mascot 5-a-side football and more make sure you pop into town this Sunday for a fun family and pet day.
Every year we hold a fun dog show and this year registration opens at 11am along the Seafront near Crown Pier.
At the GSPCA we are normally appealing for homes for animals, but we are currently appealing for your unwanted soft toys.
It is that time of year that we are at many events and we are running low on cuddly toys which we use as prizes on some of our games to help raise funds for the Shelter.
If you have any unwanted soft toys then please pop them up to the Shelter or if you need a vehicle to pick up quite a few then please let us know and we can arrange collection.
On the 23rd March of this year a very poorly sweet stray cat was brought into the GSPCA after being found wandering into someones kitchen near Les Genats Estate.
As with all strays under the Guernsey Animal Welfare Ordinance 2012 we held the 7 year old tabby for 21 days but sadly due to no microchiip, tag or lost report we were unable to find the owner of what we found to be a very sick cat.
Kit Kat as he has been fondly named is one of the friendliest cats we have at the GSPCA but sadly has a number of health issues.
Often our volunteer inductions fill the room where we hold them and this week we held the 5th induction of 2016.
On Tuesday we greeted 4 new volunteers which made for a lovely group to talk to at the Shelter in St Andrews.
The volunteer induction was given by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne which started just after 6.30pm.
The new volunteers found out about the work at the GSPCA and how to help safely.
A pack was handed to each and also a certificate of attendance and thanks.
On Monday the 3rd May the GSPCA team and St Andrews Floral Group were joined by 5 volunteers from Northern Trust who gave up a day in the office to help the team paint, decorate and other work at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
