Organisers of mass-participation events across the country have launched a new virtual fundraiser to support UK charities during the Covid-19 crisis.
Today the GSPCA have launched a Drawing Competition which we are asking you to include the Stay Safe Rainbow and your pets or animals that you really like.
A winner and runner up will be chosen from each age group which will include a GSPCA T-Shirt and other goodies which we will update you on soon.
The age groups are –
With a stunning day again in Guernsey and hot weather the GSPCA has had a number of reports from concerned members of the public that have seen dogs locked in cars during and we want to remind all pet owners of the real dangers to their pets.
The GSPCA team have already been out to a number of vehicles with reports of dogs locked inside with little or no ventilation.
With the warm weather and direct sunlight, dogs in cars are potentially in a situation where you could kill your pet if it is left, regardless of the situation.
We are pleased to say that Andrew the Jersey grey seal pup rescued over a year ago is nearly ready for the wild but we have one last step to go.
We are hoping when Pebbles the seal pup is ready to introduce them both so they can be released together.
Sadly due to the Coronavirus restrictions it is highly unlikely that we will be able to take a boat to Jersey to release Andrew where he was from with the social distancing rules in both islands.
On the 13th February the GSPCA team were called out to a very poorly seal pup we named Pebbles and we have some great news as she is doing extremely well.
We were all so worried for her when she first arrived and she required around the clock intensive care, but each day she has improved and this week she got her first taste of the outdoors since arriving.
At only 2-3 months of age she is now eating fish well and we are all so pleased with her progress.
Today is World Unicorn Day and what better day to launch this wonderful opportunity.
After hearing of our plea for help with fund raising for GSPCA during the Covid-19 crisis, Becky Rowe Jewellery contacted us offering to donate one of her Sterling Silver ”Luna” Unicorn Pendants.
We are now offering you the chance to enter our draw to be the lucky winner.
With tens of thousands of us at home this Easter across the Bailiwick of Guernsey you could be putting your pet at risk at if you feed your pet chocolate intended for people or they manage to find those carefully hidden from the children, as many of us might be planning our home Easter Egg Hunt as with the Coronavirus restrictions hunts are cancelled across the islands.
Across the Bailiwick we are all stocking up Easter eggs and chocolate as gifts for family and loved ones, but the GSPCA has an important message for pet owners.
Recently we got a wonderful update from the new owners of Tyson the rat.
New owners of Tyson said “Just to say thank you so so much for a lovely opportunity....”
“Jess our daughter is over the moon and both of them getting on very wel.”
“Within the first day Tyson the bond between him and Jess is unbelievable he could spend hours on her neck, he’s eating from her hand and licking her as well.”
Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “Tyson was a lovely rat and it is so great to hear that he is doing so well.”
We absolutely love to hear from homes that have adopted animals from the GSPCA with pictures and their story of how they are doing
We recently heard from 2 degus adopted from the GSPCA Victoria and Battenburg.
Their new owner Caitlin Baxter said “I recently adopted Victoria and Battenburg the degus from the GSPCA and it says to send in some photos of them once they're settled it, so here they are!”
“They are both very friendly, Battenburg especially, she loves to grab my hand or pull on my clothes when she wants attention.”
