The team at the GSPCA with some of our animal friends wanted to bring you some colour and cute faces to your home & we wanted to help spread the #StaySafe and
In line with States of Guernsey advice please DO NOT visit the GSPCA if you are over 65, have an underlying health condition or have any symptoms of Coronavirus and only visit us if your visit is essential but before doing so please call us on 01481 257261 or email [email protected] before your trip to the GSPCA to see if we can help without you coming to the Shelter.
Following the States of Guernsey announcement about the Coronavirus Pandemic many of our services, events, boarding, and income streams have stopped and we really need your help.
Although we remain committed to looking after all of the animals in our care and rescuing those in need, the restrictions and safety procedures we have in place are causing many challenges.
With running costs of £2,000 a day NEVER have we needed your support more than we do today.
One of our wonderful volunteers who helps each Monday and been very much missing walking the dogs and helping around the GSPCA has decided to help some much needed funds for the GSPCA. Check out this great online event this Monday -
Lucy Radford tells us all about it “When I started bakewithluce it was never just about business. I simply wanted to try and live a more fulfilling and inspiring life.
So where do you find that? in others of course...
The team at the GSPCA are such an inspiration and for the past 6 months I've been volunteering.
At the GSPCA finding an animal a new home is a very special moment as we wave them off on their new adventure.
When we hear how they are doing it is even more heart warming and earlier this year we found a very special cat a home called Charlie.
Charlie's new owner contacted us recently with an update and said “I am pleased to confirm that Charlie has settled in with us really quickly.”
“She has become a valued family member.”
On Friday two guinea pigs were dumped at the GSPCA.
In these challenging days the GSPCA like all of our community are experiencing a broad range of unique circumstances.
One of the biggest like with many charities and businesses is the dramatic change in income from donations and boarding and we appeal for your support during these difficult times.

In relation to Coronavirus - Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) or Covid-19 the GSPCA is closely following the advice from the States of Guernsey ( https://www.gov.gg/coronavirus ) which as of the 4th March 2020 on their website states -
On Wednesday 18th March we hold our first dog first aid course of 2020 at the GSPCA with a focus on helping save your dogs life.
Taking the course will be GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne who has over 23 years working in the field of animal rescue and with over 3000 animals through the doors every year at the GSPCA the team see cases of animal first aid on a daily basis here in Guernsey.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We have been running dog and cat first aid courses for over five years and have trained over 250 participants to help save animals lives.”
Ahead of #WorldBookDay on Thursday 5th March 2020 here is a message from a friend of the GSPCA Marc Abraham BVM&S MRCVS ”I'm the vet and animal welfare campaigner that led the Lucy's Law campaign to help end irresponsible dog and cat breeding practices, like puppy farming, to victory in Westminster.”
“Lucy's Law means that from April 6 2020 in England, 3rd party kitten and puppy dealers will be banned, meaning dogs and cats will only be able to be sourced direct from the breeder, or better still from a reputable rescue shelter like yourselves.”
Two mornings this week the GSPCA once again welcomed Dementia Friendly Guernsey
