UPDATE - The search for Bertie the stray schnauzer

Submitted by Steve on 16:50, 27th May, 2015 | 0

Although we have not had any sightings of Bertie for some time we continue to liaise with his owners in hope that he may still be found.

Jessie the stray beagle is also proving illusive although proving like Slygo the stray terrier 2 years ago that a stray nervous dog in Guernsey can survive for months.

Although as the months from the time he has been seen makes it difficult to think he is still stray we continue to appeal for any reports to be made to the GSPCA on 257261.

Over the weekend staff and volunteers at the GSPCA have been out to multiple locations in search of Jessie.

Jessie the stray beagle cross is being seen on multiple occasions in and around the St Martins, St Andrews, St Peter Port and Forest area and we now have her feeding in and around a trap central to these locations.

Although GSPCA team members have got within metres of Jessie she is extremely nervous and takes off at speed when approached so we are using the trap as the best way to capture her.

We are always looking for happy endings at the GSPCA and this week we’ve had two tortoise success stories.

Last week two stray tortoise were found one near Oatlands and another in St Saviour’s.

We advertised them both on our web site and social media and thanks to our facebook page both owners saw their beloved pets and contacted us and were shortly after reunited.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It was lovely to reunite both tortoise with their owners Monroe as we called her was actually Charlie and Hugo was actually called Troy.”

Submitted by Steve on 18:21, 14th May, 2015 | 0

Yesterday we told you about Dude a very sick old stray cat that was found on the Bridge in St Sampson's.

He has just arrived back from the vets having had some tests and is a very tired lad so is currently asleep after a long day.

We are pleased that thankfully he has tested negative for feline aids and leukemia, but we have discovered he has high blood pressure which has resulted in his eyes hemorrhaging which has caused a loss in his sight.

We are awaiting further results which include tests for his thyroid and renal.

Submitted by Steve on 23:37, 13th May, 2015 | 0

Just over a week ago a stray, female, tortie and white cat of around one year of age was brought into the GSPCA from St Peter Port.

On arrival she wasn't in the best of conditions with a very dirty coat, full of flea's, not acting very well in herself and extremely thin.

With no microchip or identification we are appealing for an owner to come forward, but it does appear that she had been out for some time.
