2 pm on Wednesday 2nd June join the Spring Walking Festival Guided Walk themed HIGHWAYS, BYWAYS & BEACHES A WALK IN THE WEST
A really varied walk overlooking the sea and the petrified forest, pass fortifications and pick your way down grassy tracks (sometimes muddy), spend a few minutes in a nature reserve hide, step back in time at the Elizabethan Lookout and enjoy the stunning views.
Start from Vista’s car park, Vazon Bay (Perrys Guide 14B1), Bus routes 42,91, 92.
Approx 4 miles, moderate walking sensible footwear recommended
Every year we hear of firework related incidents involving animals and children. While fireworks may be exciting and pretty to look at and its fun to celebrate many celebrations with a bang, we must put our safety, the safety of our pets and the local wildlife first.
Saturday 22nd April from 2130hours at the Peninsula Hotel there is a private firework display planned so please ensure your animals are safe and prepare for the unusual sounds and sights they might be subjected too.

On Sunday the GSPCA team was asked to help a very unusual new guest.
A family who had bought a plastic bag of bananas discovered with their fruit a stowaway.
What we believe is Camponotus Substitutus or Carpenter Ant was discovered with the produce which was purchased in St Sampsons.
The GSPCA has informed the States Vets and the store in question and the Ant who has been named Gerald Columbus is currently in isolation at the GSPCA.
The Golden Guernsey Goat Trail is a community project organised by Autism Guernsey with Support from GALP and everyone can get involved in some way.
Local businesses and individuals have sponsored and named goats, and the goats are decorated by local artists, clubs and community groups, schools, charities, and day centres. Each goat is unique.
On Sunday the GSPCA supported the activities and fun for Liberation Day at the Mint Brasserie at the Last Post.
Hundreds came along to enjoy the music, food, drinks, ice cream, bouncy castles and stalls.

During lockdown 2 Samuel Bader helped raise funds through his vedge hedge stall.
Based on Jerbourg Road Samuel Bader who recently turned 12 years old runs a flower stall and earlier this year he decided that the profits would be split between the GSPCA and St Johns Ambulance Guernsey.
On Liberation Day Samuel met with his dog Glen met with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne at the Last Post celebrations to present £148.
This year the GSPCA once again joins in the Liberation Festivities at the Last Post.
We will have our stall with games and GSPCA goodies on sale.
Vale Earth Fair helping with Liberation Day Out of Town from midday with an Acoustic Stage hosted by Elliot Albert Orchard & Vale Earth Fair Stage hosted by Vale Earth Fair with Bands, BBQ, Bar, Family Fun Day and Childrens Play Area.

Lockdown has caused all sorts of fund raising ideas for good causes and last week one of these took place.
Len Le Prevost due to lockdown had grown a very long head of hair and decided to help much needed funds for the GSPCA by cutting it off.
Len Le Prevost said “My hair had grown very long and I decided to cut it off and raise funds for the GSPCA.”
“I adopted dog Maddie from the Animal Shelter and she comes everywhere with me.”
“I really wanted to help the animals and support the GSPCA.”
Sidneys Sponsored Events recently held another amazing event.
On the 24th April they held a Masquerade Ball at the Duke of Richmond in aid of the GSPCA and Clic Sargent.
Entertainment was Element 6 and lots of fun and games as well a great food was had by all.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Sidneys Sponsored Events Masquerade Ball took place at the Duke of Richmond on Saturday 24th April and was truly a great night.”
“Element 6 kept the crowd dancing, the food was wonderful and from the raffle to the auction there was plenty of entertainment.”
