After nearly a year much loved 15 year old Hector is off to his new home

Submitted by Steve on 16:51, 26th Apr, 2021 | 0

Last May Hector a lovely black cat arrived at the GSPCA.

Sadly during his year we discovered a variety of health issues from diabetes to other ailments.

This meant many of the team handled this adorable chap twice a day as he required regular medications morning and night with a special diet.

Anna Paint GSPCA Senior Animal Care Assistant said “The Amazing Hector has left the building to go to his forever home.”

“He had lots of kisses, I gave him a kiss from everyone, he walked up the cattery chatting to all the cats, I’m sure he was saying goodbye.”

Baby bird advice from the GSPCA

Submitted by Steve on 15:59, 26th Apr, 2021 | 0

With Spring well underway the GSPCA are asking Islanders to please be mindful of the many fledglings popping up around the Bailiwick.

The GSPCA would like to remind that as a general rule, it is best to leave baby birds alone.

A baby bird has a greater chance of survival in the wild than it has being hand-reared by man as they learn to fend for themselves and how to forage for food by their parents.

Around 2 weeks after hatching young birds in your Bailiwick garden usually leave the nest, just before they learn how to fly.

HELP US INVESTIGATE CRUELTY WITH OUR ECO APPEAL for GSPCA Animal Welfare Electric Ambulance Van and Charging Point

Submitted by Steve on 10:07, 24th Apr, 2021 | 0

After 10 years of service, a wonderful vehicle that was sponsored by Carey Olsen has had to retire and we are appealing for funds or a donation of a GSPCA Animal Welfare Electric Ambulance Van and Charging Point.

The GSPCA are called out to and investigate over 2000 calls or incidents of concerns of animal welfare every year 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

The GSPCA is striving to be as green as possible and we do our best for the environment and we would love to replace the retiring vehicle with a much more eco electric model and we are appealing for support.
