We will have our fun stall with a full range of tombolas, games and GSPCA goods and we are very much looking forward being part of this fantastic event.

Charles the Guinea Pig settles into his loving new home and has a new friend

Submitted by Steve on 21:48, 27th Jun, 2019 | 0

Charles arrived at the GSPCA at the end of April as his owner could no longer care for him.

Guinea pigs are thankfully found homes quite quickly from the GSPCA and last Monday Charles found a loving new home.

Lisa Le Poidevin new owner said last week “Charles has settled in quite well.”

“He seems a bit nervous when it's cuddle time but with some hay or a treat around he relaxes again “

“I'm still just swapping my piggy Toffee's hay with his and they both seem happy enough with the new smells.”

The first group of 6 helped last Wednesday, a further 2 yesterday and we have had another 5 volunteering this morning.

Each group arrived at 9am and were greeted by GSPCA Community and Training Officer Tim Pellett.

Ducks waddling off back to the wild

Submitted by Steve on 15:51, 20th Jun, 2019 | 0

It is an extremely busy time at the GSPCA helping wild animals at the GSPCA and when they arrive sick, injured and in need the GSPCA works around the clock to get them back to the wild.

Some need only few days of care while others need many weeks.

When they are ready for release we then ideally like to release them near where they were found and others where we can find a suitable release site.

Last month Blanchelande College kindly allowed us to release 3 young ducks with them that had been in our care.

Tomorrow it is #BringYourDogtoWorkDay are you getting involved?

Submitted by Steve on 10:48, 20th Jun, 2019 | 0

All around Guernsey each year businesses and offices have a special day when they bring their 4 legged friends to work.

This year Bring Your Dog To Work Day takes places on Friday 21st June.

Having a dog in the room can make human colleagues more cooperative, reduce stress, increase job satisfaction and productivity.

When adopting a dog or any animal from the GSPCA we often ask how many hours potential owners may be at work.  Perhaps the question should actually be - are you able to take your dog to work?

Huge congratulations to GSPCA Manager who ran the Guernsey Dairy Milk Run Half Marathon

Submitted by Steve on 15:13, 19th Jun, 2019 | 0

On Sunday the GSPCA Manager undertook the challenge of running the 13.1 miles which makes up the Guernsey Dairy Milk Run Half Marathon.

Earlier this year the GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne celebrated his 40th year and helped raise funds for the GSPCA instead of cards and gifts.

Steve at the time decided that he had put on a little weight in recent years so made the decision to get fit and run the Guernsey Dairy Milk Run Half Marathon.
