Last month Andrew was rescued starving and dehydrated.
Found on a beach in Jersey this very poorly seal pup is lucky to still be alive.
Andrew is till very weak having been found only a couple of days old and in such a bad condition and the GSPCA team are working around the clock to do all they can for this very poorly grey seal pup.
Having had a series of treatments and fluids we are now appealing for donations of mackerel and herring.
Whiskers the naughty elf says “Pop along to the GSPCA Volunteer Induction Evening tonight at 630pm.”
“Find out how you can help all of my friends at the Animal Shelter and get involved with the work of the GSPCA.”
We have now set our inductions for 2019 and the last of 2018 is tonight Tuesday 4thDecember at 630pm.
This year alone we have now inducted 170 new volunteers, placements and work through these inductions and are graced with an average 120 volunteers helping each week, but with over 500 animals in our care there is always plenty to do.
Whiskers says “Lots of great gifts for your pets on sale at the GSPCA.”
“Lots of new toys, treats and don't forget to check out the wonderful Charity Shop which has a pet section.”
The GSPCA Shop and Charity Shop are open 7 days a week Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.
To great all sorts of great Christmas gifts pop to the Shelter which you can find us at GSPCA, Rue des Truchots, St Andrews, Guernsey GY6 8UD and Perry Guide page 24 A1 off Route de la Croix au Bailiff.
Whiskers the naughty elf says “Why not sponsor an animal as a gift this Christmas.”
“Please become an Angel Pen Pal Sponsor and help the animals at the GSPCA.”
With your help we can ensure thousands of animals are rescued and cared for every year.
Without you the GSPCA couldn't run 24/7 helping animals in Guernsey.
In the last few days we have helped rescue many hedgehogs, birds, stray cats, dogs, baby bunnies and many more all of which need food, veterinary care and many specialist facilities.
So the countdown to Christmas begins and each day our cheeky little elf ‘Whiskers’ will be updating you on ways you can help support the animals in our care at the GSPCA.
To start this naughty little elf has grabbed a Christmas Lottery Ticket off the GSPCA reception desk.
Whisker’s said “Why don’t you grab your Christmas Lottery Tickets from the GSPCA.”
“Open 7 days a week 9am to 5pm and Sunday 11am to 4pm.”
“At only £3 a ticket there’s lots of chances to win and you will be helping many charities.”
Now in their seventh year, the 2019 Ceva Animal Welfare Awards recognise the achievements and outstanding commitment of the remarkable volunteers, charity workers and veterinary professionals who have dedicated their lives to improving animal health and welfare here in the UK and around the world.
In 2017 a team of GSPCA staff and volunteers were flown over for the awards as the team were bestowed with the Special International Animal Welfare Recognition award and in 2015 local vet and GSPCA President was honoured with the Chris Laurence Vet of the Year Award.
Sometime in the early hours ‘Whiskers’ the cheeky little elf will be joining the team and animals at the GSPCA.
Businesses around Guernsey will be plagued by these cheeky little elves in the Guernsey Press’s Magical Elf Quest.
The Guernsey Press in a very special edition this week said this –
‘These poor business owners cant’ get their work done,
Some mischievous elves are causing trouble for fun.
The place in chaos, they’re all in a tizzy,
The staff can’t seem to catch them, they’re just far too busy.
Earlier this year the GSPCA were called out to help a large number of ducks in need.
Many have thankfully found new homes but we currently still have Chip, Mr Potts and Mrs Potts, the Runner Ducks and Gilly, Barristan, Danaerys, Gregor, Hodor, Jofrey, Jon Snow, Petyr, Renly, Robb, and Roose the Muscovy Ducks.
That’s right we have 14 ducks looking for new owners.
If you are interested you can visit the Shelter 7 days a week ideally between 11am and 4pm when the viewing areas of animals are open.
Starting this Saturday, and each Saturday and Thursday night thereafter through December in the run up to Christmas, we have the opportunity to have a stall in Market Place.
If you would be interested in helping out, could let Michelle know any times/dates you might be available by calling 01481 257261 or email [email protected] .
They may not all go ahead depending on numbers of helpers, but if we can do some of the dates that would be great.
Please pop in for a mince pie and refreshments and support local charities by visiting market stalls hosted by Action for Children, Paws for Support, MUG, GSPCA and CLIC Sargent all taking place at Barclays Branch in St Peter Port.
This great event will take place on Thursday 13th December between 6pm and 830pm.
Please note the counter will not be open for banking transactions and all are welcome into the warm to support these local charities.
