From visiting the GSPCA to now A&E we seem to have very inquisitive cows here in Guernsey.
Also a few weeks ago a herd decided to pop by the GSPCA Animal Shelter.
On Saturday night the GSPCA Animal Ambulance Warden was called out to a stop our ambulance rarely visits.
Sarah Harrison GSPCA team member and ambulance warden said “On Saturday we had one of our more unusual calls at around 10pm.”
“It’s not everyday our warden gets a call from the Joint Emergency Control Centre to say there are cows at A&E.”
Every year we hear of firework related incidents involving animals and children. While fireworks may be exciting and pretty to look at and its fun to celebrate many celebrations with a bang, we must put our safety, the safety of our pets and the local wildlife first.
Tomorrow Friday 31st May 2024 at 9pm in the area of Mont Arrive, St Peter Port, GY1 2AQ there is a firework display planned so please ensure your animals are safe and prepare for the unusual sounds and sights they might be subjected too.
The GSPCA couldn’t do so much without our incredible team.
There are many ways to help the animals in our care and we are currently looking for a number of volunteers to help in a range of roles.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “At the GSPCA we have an amazing team and currently we are looking for those that want to help us do all that we do in a variety of roles.”
The GSPCA has had to grow in recent years to meet the demands on our services and ensure the care and rescue of animals in need.

The GSPCA are hugely grateful to Clarity and Director Matt Hale for all their support to the GSPCA.
For nearly 10 years they have provided invaluable support and last week was just another of the often weekly and monthly visits of voluntary time and kind IT gifts to ensure we can have the much needed infrastructure we require.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “The GSPCA are incredibly thankful to the amazing team at Clarity for all of their IT and technical support.”

Due to work happening on Rue des Truchots from today until Friday 7th June 2024 access to the GSPCA is via Route de la Croix au Bailiff direction only.
This does mean there are likely going to be issues traveling to the GSPCA and we would ask those using the lane to kindly be mindful of our ambulances that may need to get animals to the vets quickly or to rescues.
Both Rohais de Haut and Route des Fauconnaires directions onto Rue du Truchots are closed for road resurfacing work.
