Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "This May Half Term from the 25th May thanks to Karen and Chloe we have planned Guided Tours.”
Every day the GSPCA help lost and stray animals.
With the larger farm animals we are called out to help everything from escaped horses to sheep in the road, cows in gardens to pigs out and about and many more.
Mostly escaped farm or large animals lose are from fences coming down especially in windy weather or gates being left open.
This weekend though the GSPCA had a herd of cows hand themselves into the GSPCA.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are very blessed to have very clever animals here in Guernsey.”
The GSPCA are warning dog walkers taking their four legged friends to local commons of a current concern.
We once again have had reports of thorny seeds from what is believed is the Erodium Cicutarium also know as Redstem Storks Bill which get caught in your dogs feet and fur along many of the commons and grassy areas especially L’Ancresse, Port Soif and Chouet,
At the GSPCA we have been helping animals around the clock for over 151 years.
We have incredible support thanks to our amazing team of volunteers and so many groups and companies that volunteer to help the GSPCA and the vast range of work we carry out 24/7.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “This year we moved from 150 to 151 years helping animals and our community and we couldn’t do so much without our incredible team which includes so many volunteers.”
At the GSPCA we are always in need of equipment, feed, and so much more and currently we are in desperate need of additional sky kennels to return the 9 seal pups back to the wild.
You can see the extra large sky kennels we need by going to https://www.innerwolf.co.uk/petmate-sky-kennel-dog-travel-kennel/
These are not only used for seals but other large species from dogs to sheep and goats in some circumstances.
National Pet Day is a chance for those of us who own pets to show them how much we love them.
We all can think of the traditional things: a new toy, some tasty treats, or a long walk in the park, maybe a game of fetch, assuming you have a dog!
But, think outside the box and come up with some ideas to celebrate your relationship with your pet. Once you have indulged your own animals with their favourite treats, why not consider donating to the many animals at the GSPCA?

After the huge success of the Puffin Parade held last year which raised over £140,000 between the GSPCA and Autism Guernsey both charities are delighted to announce they will be working together once again and in 2025 bringing to Guernsey the Dolphin Parade.
Both the GSPCA and Autism Guernsey do vital work for our community and animals and with the Puffin Parade raising so much as well as being a huge amount of fun, in 2025 islanders and visitors alike will be treated to a Parade of Dolphins.
