Hot Cars Kill Dogs & hot pavements damage feet- As the hot weather continues please think of your pets

Submitted by Steve on 09:27, 21st Jun, 2017 | 0

With another roasting day ahead of us the GSPCA want to ensure all pet owners take care of their animals.

The GSPCA during hot weather always receive reports from concerned members of the public that have seen dogs locked in cars and other animals in glass houses.

The last month has been no different with dogs being reported in cars to pigs in greenhouses.

With the warm weather and direct sunlight, dogs in cars are potentially in a situation where you could kill your pet if it is left, regardless of the situation.

This Friday June 23rd is 'Bring Your Dog to Work Day' - instead of a dress down day could your dog come to work for a donation

Submitted by Steve on 22:23, 20th Jun, 2017 | 0

This Friday June 23rd is Bring Your Dog to Work Day.

Having a dog in the room can make human colleagues more cooperative, reduce stress, increase job satisfaction and productivity.

When adopting a dog or any animal from the GSPCA we often ask how many hours potential owners may be at work.  Perhaps the question should actually be - are you able to take your dog to work?

Discussing the benefits of taking a dog to work might just result in a match with a dog we have in for homing.

Grey seal pup rescued hours after Sami is released in Jersey by the British Divers Marine Life Rescue Medics on route to GSPCA

Submitted by Steve on 13:31, 20th Jun, 2017 | 0

On Sunday the team all enjoyed releasing Sami the seal pup back into Jersey waters near to where she was rescued back in December.

No-one could have forseen that the Jersey British Divers Marine Life Rescue team who helped Sami and watched her swim free would hours later be rescuing another grey seal pup in need at such an unseasonal time of year.

The young pup has a number of health problems, a lot of nasal discharge and very underweight for its age so has been in the care of New Era Vets and is currently on route to the GSPCA.

Momentous occasion as Sami the first ever Channel Island seal pup to be released in Jersey after being rehabilitated in Guernsey

Submitted by Steve on 00:29, 19th Jun, 2017 | 0

Fathers Day has been a very special time for one youngster at the GSPCA.

Sami the grey seal pup who was rescued in Jersey on a cold winters beach close to death at just over 13kgs by the Jersey British Divers Marine Life Rescue Medics has had a long road to recovery.

Less than a third of what she should have weighed at two weeks of age the grey seal pup was extremely lucky to survive.

After her initial first aid in Jersey Sami was flown to Guernsey where she was initially tube fed and treated every two hours day and night.
