This Friday June 23rd is Bring Your Dog to Work Day.
Having a dog in the room can make human colleagues more cooperative, reduce stress, increase job satisfaction and productivity.
When adopting a dog or any animal from the GSPCA we often ask how many hours potential owners may be at work. Perhaps the question should actually be - are you able to take your dog to work?
Discussing the benefits of taking a dog to work might just result in a match with a dog we have in for homing.
On Sunday the team all enjoyed releasing Sami the seal pup back into Jersey waters near to where she was rescued back in December.
No-one could have forseen that the Jersey British Divers Marine Life Rescue team who helped Sami and watched her swim free would hours later be rescuing another grey seal pup in need at such an unseasonal time of year.
The young pup has a number of health problems, a lot of nasal discharge and very underweight for its age so has been in the care of New Era Vets and is currently on route to the GSPCA.
The GSPCA will be joining the Leo and Lions Club of Guernsey at their Fairfield Family Fun Day this weekend.
This event includes free entry and parking so don't miss out on a great family day out!
The entertainment schedule for the day is:

Fathers Day has been a very special time for one youngster at the GSPCA.
Sami the grey seal pup who was rescued in Jersey on a cold winters beach close to death at just over 13kgs by the Jersey British Divers Marine Life Rescue Medics has had a long road to recovery.
Less than a third of what she should have weighed at two weeks of age the grey seal pup was extremely lucky to survive.
After her initial first aid in Jersey Sami was flown to Guernsey where she was initially tube fed and treated every two hours day and night.
Yesterday the GSPCA and St Andrews Floral Group were invited along to Les Cotils for the Insurance Corporation Conservation Awards.
This is the second year our joint project has entered after last year winning the Peter Walpole Peoples Choice Award after our many kind supporters voted for our project.
The room was packed with amazing people from organisations or running projects from their gardens helping the biodiversity of the Bailiwick or with plans to do more.
On Wednesday the GSPCA welcomed 12 new volunteers wanting to help animals and the Shelter in Guernsey.
Seb, Mya, Charlotte, Catherine, Daniel, Gillian, Daffy, Bryony, Sue, Andrea, Vivien and James arrived at 630pm where they were greeted by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne.
The induction took just over 90 minutes as Steve talked to the group about our work, how each can volunteer and working safely for the GSPCA.
At the end of the training each were presented with a certificate and had a chat with Steve to set a date to start.
Once again the GSPCA had two very special visitors from St Sampsons High School.
Kate Zierlinger and her friend Cerys Collins popped in to share with the team at the Animal Shelter.
Kate and Cerys said "The 2017 Channel Islands Business Challenge came to a close last night and we are so incredibly proud to announce that K&C Crafts were awarded the prize for Overall Winner!."
La Houguette PTA are having their Summer Fete on 17th June and the GSPCA have been invited along with our stall.
We'll be setting up from midday with a 130pm start and it all finishes at 4pm.
If you'd like to volunteer or can help please call 257261 or email [email protected]
We hope to see you there and thank you to La Houguette PTA for the very kind invite to join them.
On the 4th June the GSPCA took a stall down to join the many others celebrating the Arts Seafront Sunday.
With fantastic weather and thousands supporting the event at the GSPCA we would like to thank the organisors, the volunteers and all involved.
We raised a fantastic £965 and had a huge amount of fun meeting the many visitors.
