On the 6th October last year a very large tabby cat called Louis arrived at the GSPCA as his owner could no longer look after him.
Louis is a very handsome chap and was a 2 year old male cat that sadly suffered with a form of asthma and was on some medication each day when he first arrived.
When Louis first joined us at the GSPCA he was very timid and nervous but as he got to know the team at the GSPCA hr improved each day and grew more confident and friendly.
On Friday the GSPCA welcomed another wonderful group of volunteers from the fantastic team at Northern Trust.

Tuesday evening the GSPCA greeted 14 new faces wanting to help out at the Animal Shelter and 24/7 work that is carried out.
Those present were interested in helping with dog walking to reception, cat pen cleaning to helping with the wildlife, fund raising to volunteering to gain experience for their CV and some to help gain life skills.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager greeted the group and gave a presentation and talk about the work we carry out 24 hours 7 days a week, the differing volunteer roles and how to work safely at the GSPCA Shelter and our events.
We are pleased to announce that Olivia the loggerhead turtle was successfully released back to the wild today at lunch time.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We have just had a message and pictures sent from Gran Canaria saying that Olivia the loggerhead turtle is back in the wild."
"Olivia was released by the team from Centro de Recuperación de Fauna Silvestre an the south east of Gran Canaria on a beach called Playa El Burrero."
The GSPCA are currently looking for a staff member or members to help cover maternity leave and potentially additional casual hours to meet the needs of the Shelter.
We have a team of 20 staff and over 600 volunteers and without the whole team we couldn't help the 3000+ animals that come through the doors every year, care for the many boarders and achieve so much.
The role is a diverse one working with all species of animals in Guernsey, managing volunteers, driving the GSPCA ambulance, covering night duties, using IT and helping on reception to mention a few of the duties.
Last Wednesday 5 staff from The Travel Corporation joined the team at the GSPCA and gave up a day in the office to help out.
This is the second time this month team members from The Travel Corporation have helped and 3 of the group had helped last year at the GSPCA.
