Despite a very windy afternoon once again the Donkey Derby was a lovely family day out on Saturday.

We are hugely grateful to the Lions Club of Guernsey that hold the annual event and we had a great day last weekend.

We raised over £500 and would like to thank all that helped and supported our very busy stall.

Great fun at the West Show - thank you to all that helped and supported our GSPCA stall

For the fifth year in a row the GSPCA attended the West Show which was held on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th August 2016 and from all at the Animal Shelter we would like to say a huge thank you to all involved with what was a wonderful event.

Our GSPCA stall had all the favourite games, pet supplies and goods on sale and helped raise over £1800 for the many animals in our care and a huge thanks to all that donated and supported our very busy stall.

Stephen Marsh, BDMLR Operations Manager said "BDMLR is a specialist marine animal rescue charity with over 3500 active trained Marine Mammal Medics covering England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands."

With the sunny hot weather due today the GSPCA are calling everyone to be mindful of your pets.

Many of us love to enjoy the sunny warm weather but we are urging pet owners to be mindful of their animals.

Don't leave your dog alone in a car.

Final Taste Seafront Sunday of 2016 a fantastic day - thank you all involved and supported from the GSPCA

For the final time of 2016 the GSPCA joined the Taste of Guernsey Seafront Sunday on Sunday.

It was their fourth and final Seafront Sunday of 2016 and once again we are hugely grateful to them for letting us join them for what was a great and very popular day, as they have all proved to be.

Our stall was opposite Thomas de la Rue with all of our fun games, tombolas, pet supplies, donation buckets and GSPCA goods which help raise funds for the animals in our care.

Thank you to all involved and supported the Jigs and Reels Funday at Saumarez Park last Saturday from the GSPCA

On Saturday a day of dancing and music was had at Saumarez Park.

There were free workshops in Irish dancing for children and adults.

The organisors of the Jigs and Reels Funday taught those that attended Ceili dances between 12 till 4 and also helped run a stall to raise funds for the GSPCA.

There were cream teas and refreshments served with charity stalls on site and after 4pm there was Live Music and Ceili.

Thank you to Ashley Conquest & Kiera Hanley from The Travel Corporation

Last Thursday 2 staff from The Travel Corporation joined the team at the GSPCA and gave up a day in the office to help out.

Ashley Conquest & Kiera Hanley arrived at 9am where they received a short induction before helping around site with the 300 animals at the Shelter in St Andrews.

GSPCA help 'Celebrate Guernsey' with Northern Trust

Last week the GSPCA joined Northern Trust for part of their 'Celebrate Guernsey' week.

Northern Trust have helped support the GSPCA in many ways and in the last few years just short of 100 staff have helped out at the Animal Shelter and it looks likely that with the next group due to help very soon that they will have soon sent three figures of staff to volunteer at the GSPCA.

Fun at the South Show and Daisy wins the day

Last Friday and Saturday the GSPCA joined the South Show for a sunny and fun two days in St Martins.

The Friday proved very popular with many families enjoying the bouncy castles, games and of course the Bonnie Baby competition.

The Saturday also teamed with visitors and in the afternoon the GSPCA Manager helped run the fun dog show which had over 80 entries between the 8 fun classes and saw dogs of all sizes.

The Donkey Derby is always a lovely family day out and why not pop along to see the GSPCA and many other charity stalls this Saturday.

We are hugely grateful to the Lions Club of Guernsey that hold the annual event and we look forward joining them this weekend.

This Saturday is a busy day for the GSPCA as we not only have our stall at the Donkey Derby we also have our annual flag day taking place around Guernsey.
