UPDATE - Olivia the turtle's traveling box is coming together - would you like to donate to her travel box, care and flight

Today GSPCA team members are putting together a travel box to meet IATA regulations for Olivia the loggerhead turtle as flight plans are finalised.

Having spoken to countless contacts and working with the wonderful vets and team at Petair we are hopeful to find transport and a route at a cost less than £12,500 than previously quoted which may well be with less time in the air for Olivia.

GSPCA Dog Fouling Facts & Survey in Guernsey

One of the main causes of irritation to everyone – including many dog owners – is fouling in public places. Everyone has to share the same recreational space and there is nothing worse than having to constantly look for dog poo to prevent you or your children stepping or even falling into it.

GSPCA have two large and one extremely large tropical fish tank with over 30 fish and all of the set up to find homes for

Currently the GSPCA are in the care of over 30 tropical fish in established tanks looking for homes.

The three tanks have a variety of species all of which  have lived together for some time and the Shelter would like to find homes for the full set ups as well as the fish as groups in the tanks as not to upset them.

The GSPCA often help a variety of species and although it is rare for our services to be called upon to help tropical fish we always do whatever we can.

GSPCA Youtube passes 100,000 views

This weekend the GSPCA Youtube account passed 100,000 views.

The GSPCA is very active on a number of social media sites and after a flurry of visits after Bonnie the seal pup was released recently as well as the 100's of videos uploaded we have just broke 100,000 views.

The GSPCA use youtube to find animals homes to share clips of the wildlife in our care as well as short videos from some of the many events we attend and run.

GSPCA thanks to St Martins WI after a lovely afternoon

Last Thursday Sarah Creasey GSPCA Animal Welfare and Education Officer popped along to St Martins WI to talk about the work of the GSPCA.

With over 20 of their members present Sarah enjoyed a lovely afternoon talking about the 24/7 work of the Shelter and the 1000's of animals we help every year.

Sarah Creasey GSPCA Animal Welfare and Education Officer said "It was lovely to chat to St Martins WI group about the work we do at the GSPCA and they seemed to really enjoy it."

Pushy Mums Sports Day helping the GSPCA and Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation

From all at the GSPCA we would like to thank Pushy Mums Buggy Workout (Guernsey).

The weekend before last the group of Mums held a very special sports day raising funds for Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation and the GSPCA.

Laurel Le Tocq from Pushy Mums Buggy Workout (Guernsey) said "The sun shone down on the first ever Pushy Mums Sports Day which took place last Saturday."

"The event raised £255 for charity."

On Friday 27th May many will remember an amazing evening which was had by 100's of islanders that sailed over to Herm for the evening for a fund raiser that was being organised thanks to those on Herm, the Mermaid Tavern and the wonderful Fade Share

GSPCA join the Grammar School for their Wellbeing Fayre

Last Thursday GSPCA Animal Welfare and Education Officer Sarah Creasey popped along to the Wellbeing Fayre at the Grammar School with Mouse who was one of the Slovakian puppies rescued last year.

The Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre’s Wellbeing Fayre was held on Thursday 7th July which ran in the main school hall throughout the afternoon.

The hall was be split into five sections, each representing one part of the Five Ways to Wellbeing.

Tomorrow on Wednesday 13th July the GSPCA and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People have teamed up to for an evening at the GSPCA to see behind the scenes, refreshments and a talk about the work at the Animal Shelter.

The tour starts at 6pm and those attending will see the lovely grounds at the GSPCA and the many animals in the care of the Shelter.

This could be your last chance to meet Olivia the loggerhead turtle as the plans to get her home are being finalised.
