Submitted by Steve on 21:40, 21st Jun, 2016 | 0

This evening three stray budgies were found near Saumarez Park which were kindly transported to the GSPCA by Leo Thomas founder of Sarnia Guinea Pig Rescue.

The two male and one female birds were found together and both males are in fairly good condition, with the female bird with a few small injuries but otherwise fine.

The birds have been named Major, Manuel and Sybil.

We have already had a number of stray canaries and budgies found this year and sadly many are never claimed and are either rehomed or cared for at the Animal Shelter.

Over the last few months the very generous Waitrose Rohais staff and store have been helping with feed for Olivia the loggerhead turtle.

Both the store and the staff have been helping donate the squid that she seems to really enjoy from the Waitrose Rohais fresh fish counter.

On Friday last week as a way of a thank you two of the Waitrose staff popped along to the GSPCA at feeding time and had the unique opportunity to feed Olivia in her enclosure at the GSPCA.

In this mornings post a very kind member of public has purchased an additional heater from our Amazon Wish List and also today Le Friquet Garden Centre have donated a fantastic large pond filter.

Now that Olivia is eating as much as she can the new filter and heater will add to the already wonderful donations of other equipment that enable us to care for her.
