Could your shop display a GSPCA Wish List Star on items needed at the Shelter to help the 25 Slovakian puppies & many animals?

24 hours a day, 7 days a week staff and volunteers work around the clock at the GSPCA to ensure the animals are cared for and those in need can be rescued around Guernsey.

At present with the 25 Slovakian puppies and many other animals at the GSPCA we are continually appealing for animal feed and cleaning products.

One of the wonderful additions that has benefited many animals at the Shelter has been our Wish List which we have both on our website and a link to an Amazon Wish List.

Update on the 25 Slovakian puppies & details of The Puppy Smuggling Scandal reports

On Thursday of last week two people were in Guernsey Magistrate Court for animal cruelty and fraud to hear their verdicts.

A 59-year-old man from the Slovak Republic was found guilty of animal cruelty and fraud and fined a total of £2,700.  He was told that the fine must be paid from custody or he would serve the alternative of 14 days in prison.

Battle of Britain Parade 9.40am - Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday 13th September

This Sunday is the biggest event of the year for the GSPCA.

The day is packed with events, stalls and more but for stall holders we are asking everyone to set up between 8am and 930am with all vehicles parked by 930am as there is the Battle of Britain parade who prepare at 9.40am and set off at 9.50am.

The parade will come from the Weighbridge Roundabout and will then line up outside the Town Church and Marks and Spencers for an inspection.

The parade will include many local cadet groups, The Royal British Legion Standards, the Guernsey Veterans and many others.

Co-op Homemaker are a drop off for towel donations to help care for the 25 dogs

At the GSPCA we are extremely thankful for all of the wonderful donations for the 25 dogs and many other animals in our care.

We are also extremely grateful to Co-op Homemaker who have volunteered to be a drop off location for donations.

We are currently appealing for donations of towels and funds to help care for the many animals at the GSPCA."

If you cannot make it to the GSPCA in St Andrews please do pop your donations to the wonderful Homemaker team who will ensure they are passed on to the Animal Shleter.

Slovakian man charged for animal welfare offences and fraud after transporting 25 dogs - more details to follow soon

Yesterday two people were in Guernsey Magistrate Court for animal cruelty and fraud to hear their verdicts.

A 59-year-old man from the Slovak Republic was found guilty of animal cruelty and fraud and fined a total of £2,700 and was told that the fine must be paid from custody or he would serve the alternative of 14 days in prison.

The 27-year-old woman had charges against her dropped.

The dogs were brought to Guernsey in a van aboard a ferry from St Malo on the 27th August with a final destination in the UK.

Thank you for your donations helping the 25 dogs in our care

The GSPCA would like to extend a huge thank you for the fantastic support we have been receiving over the last few days.

We have been appealing for towels and donations to care for 25 dogs that were transported to the GSPCA last week and the many other animals at the Shelter.

Percy Pricklesworth the hedgehog heads back to the wild

With hundreds of hedgehogs rescued every year it is always lovely to wave them off when they are fully recovered back to the wild.

On the 23rd July a very little hedgehog was found in St Martins thin and a number of health concerns.

After 6 weeks of care and TLC GSPCA Shelter staff contacted the finders who helped rescue and name 'Percy Pricklesworth' to collect him and return him to the wild.

Animal Cruelty - 2 arrested transporting 25 dogs in Guernsey

On Thursday 27th August, the States Vet received an official notification of concerns for the welfare of 25 dogs being transported in a van from Slovakia to the UK via Guernsey on board the ferry from France.

Guernsey Border Agency officers stopped the van and in conjunction with the States Vet the animals were removed to the GSPCA because of concern for their condition.
