Last night the GSPCA Warden was called out by Guernsey Police to a stray that we don't see every day.
Each year around 200 stray dogs and 500+ stray cats find their way to the Shelter as well as many other species of pets.
We are also called at least 10 times a month to help with stray horses and farm animals. Thankfully most of the farm animals and horses we are called out to can be reunited with their owners or secured in a nearby field fairly quickly and easily.
Last Friday a team of 25 staff from Specsavers spent the afternoon helping paint around the site at the GSPCA.
The staff were the third group from Specsavers to help this year at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
During the school breaks we are running a series of guided tours at the GSPCA.
This is your opportunity to visit behind the scenes at our Animal Shelter in St Andrews and see the work being carried out for the new build.
We are arranging guided tours on a series of dates at 2pm.
We ask for a minimum donation of £5 per person and £3 per child, or £15 for a family of four.
The tours take around 80 minutes and you get to see in many of the departments and a variety of species.
Tours are a maximum of 15 people per tour, so please book early.
Once again the GSPCA and Guernsey Bereavement Service are teaming to provide a training session in Pet Bereavement for those working or volunteering in the animal care industry in the Bailiwick of Guernsey or anyone that is interested in coming along.
The aim of the evening is to educate the many volunteers and staff across the Bailiwick help those pet owners with the loss of their beloved pet.
Zoe Le Pelley from the Guernsey Bereavement Service will lead the talk on the following subjects:
The CEVA dedicated Welfare Awards website is now open for nominations - www.cevawelfareawards.com

4 weeks ago today 25 Slovakian puppies were detained at Customs in St Peter Port harbour.
On Thursday the 3rd September two people were in Guernsey Magistrate Court for animal cruelty and fraud to hear their verdicts.
A 59-year-old man from the Slovak Republic was found guilty of animal cruelty and fraud and fined a total of £2,700. He was told that the fine must be paid from custody or he would serve the alternative of 14 days in prison.
On Sunday the GSPCA held the fourth ever Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday in St Peter Port.
Each year since 2012 the team at the Animal Shelter work extremely hard to put on a day to celebrate animals in Guernsey.
Once again thousands of visitors and locals enjoyed what was a wonderful day packed with things to see and do.
Stall holders and the GSPCA team arrived during the early hours of Sunday to set up ready for the first event which was the fantastic Battle of Britain Parade which takes place along the seafront just after 940am.
This Sunday we are pleased to announce Daniel the Donkey from Island FM and Roary the Lion from Guernsey FC will be attending and taking part in the Giant Animal Mascot Race.
Joining them will be individuals from Crabby Jacks, KPMG, Travel Corporation, Greenman MCC, Sark Shipping and others and its not too late.

Giant Animal Mascot It's a Knock Out for the GSPCA
Once again we will be holding a Giant Animal Mascot Race but this year there are a few twists.
With only 3 days to go the GSPCA are getting ready for our BIGGEST event of the year the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday and just look who is coming.
Not only do we have Bernard over very own GSPCA Mascot but his friends Olaf and Dave the Minion are popping along to say hello to the crowds.
To judge the fun dog show 'Olaf' will take centre stage to see who has the waggiest tail to dog looking most like their owner.
Olaf and Dave popped by today and are looking forward seeing everyone this Sunday from 10am.
