On Thursday 16th April we will be inviting our Exclusive Build Partners to the first ceremony of our new multi purpose animal welfare building.
As the days get longer and the temperature rises the weather is just right for some of our prickly Winter residents to head back to the wild.
Pumpkin the hedgehog was found by Michelle Johansen near Ville au Roi last November at only 330g which would have meant she wouldn't have survived the Winter.
Parsnip was found early December at only 356g in a similar area by Michelle.
Both hedgehogs have spent the Winter at the GSPCA and with the weather just right and Pumpkin up to 960g and Parsnip at 872g they have both reached more than needed in weight to be released.
This week over 70 children took part in some Easter fun at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
Children met the Easter Bunny and GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne before having a tour of many of the animals, especially the bunny rabbits.
As the groups were shown around they had a treasure hunt to complete whilst learning all about rabbits.
After the tour the groups arrived at the events room where after finding out the answers and receiving prizes they were issued with buckets for an Easter Egg Hunt.
Monday 27th April to the 3rd May 2015 is the third GSPCA Cupcake Week here in Guernsey
Can you make/bake & sell cupcakes to raise money for the GSPCA? By doing so you would be helping many injured and abandoned animals.
Why not get baking, organise a cupcake sale or coffee morning, or if you're a business maybe sell some on the day and make a percentage to go the GSPCA.
Have your furry friend painted by Guernsey artist, Gina Andrews. Originals are hand-painted in Indian ink on high quality Fabriano paper with any colour detail added using watercolour paints.
What is required?
High quality images are to be emailed to [email protected] for approval and discussion.
Large sharp images that do not blur when zooming in.
Images with no red-eye.

At the GSPCA with 200 to 300 animals in our care which do produce rather a lot of waste and we are continually working to improve and maintain our facilities.
Currently we are replacing 5 of our very old buildings with our new multi purpose animal welfare building, but we continue to have to repair and maintain the site where the many animals are kept and the services to them.
On the weekend our sewage pump failed which serves the many buildings on site and we are currently appealing for funds to help us repair this essential service.
At 11pm last night the GSPCA were called out to rescue an injured cat near the Jamaica Inn.
The young adult, entire male ginger and white cat was collected and rushed to the vet having being involved with a road traffic incident.
Sadly no collar or microchip was found and he is now under intensive care at the vets.
We are appealing for an owner to come forward and if you have lost a cat in the Admiral Park area then please call us as soon as possible on 01481 257261.
