On Friday afternoon the GSPCA were called out to an extremely large lizard which was identified as a tegu.

This evening the GSPCA was called out to what was reported as an extremely large lizard.
As we were unsure what to expect both Rescue Officers Geoff George and Neil Hughes attended the scene to discover what is indeed an extremely large lizard.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Around 430pm this afternoon we had an emergency call at the GSPCA to what was reported as an extremely large lizard.”
“Rescue Officers Geoff George and Neil Hughes both attended and were very surprised to what they found.”
With only two weeks left to view the Guernsey Puffin Parade at their 60 locations the GSPCA and Autism Guernsey are preparing to collect the wonderful painted puffins to prepare them for the BIG Auction.
Taking place at St Pierre Park Hotel on Tuesday 12th September at 630pm tickets are now on sale.
Tickets are £15 each and include a glass of prosecco or orange juice and canapes will be served.
This Sunday the GSPCA will once again be on the Seafront for the last EDABL Seafront Sunday for 2023 and last but one of the year.
This Sunday from 10am till 4pm the GSPCA are delighted to say we will be joining the EDABL Seafront Sunday to raise much needed funds and promote the work of the Animal Shelter.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We always have great fun at the Seafront Sundays and not only are we looking forward to this weekend, we are appealing for volunteers to help at the first EDABL Seafront Sunday on the 13th August."
The 20th Torteval Scarecrow Festival will be held this weekend on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July 2023.
At the Torteval Parish Church you can walk the Scarecrow Trail (1½ hours approx) through some of Torteval’s delightful lanes.
Refreshments available throughout both days with licensed bar, entertainment and fete with various stalls.
This is the eighth year the GSPCA are taking part in this wonderful community event and we are hugely grateful to the McIntyre family for the kind use of their front garden.
Starsky is a feral cat from Sark who will soon be back home under the care on an islander but has needed a lot of TLC.

Earlier this week GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne popped along to the BBC Guernsey studios and office with a gift.
At our recent AGM the GSPCA recognised a number of hugely supportive and amazing individuals, businesses and others that have been a fantastic support to the GSPCA.
Earlier this year when we celebrated our 150th anniversary BBC Guernsey ran a live show on the day at the GSPCA and are always helping promote our educational messages, events and so much more.
