On Tuesday 18th June St Martins Cubs had a very special visit and tour at the GSPCA.
On arrival they were greeted by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne who multi tasked with the tour and the arrival of new animals in need.
The tour involved seeing behind the scenes meeting many of the 500 animals at the GSPCA from Nellie the bearded dragon to a very quiet quick glimpse of the seal pups from behind the one way glass.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager “It was lovely to show the St Martins Cubs around the GSPCA last month.”
A huge thanks from the GSPCA to our friends at Grow Ltd who recently donated a huge amount of strawberries.
The animals very much enjoyed them as a lovely treat, but you must take care as these lovely tasting fruits for some species need to be given very sparingly for various reasons for their health.
Your tortoise and strawberries
You should protect any strawberries growing in your garden, as they are a particular favourite of Mediterranean tortoises.

Le Friquet's Annual Family Fun Day returned on June 8th 2019 and once again the GSPCA were invited and attended this fantastic event.
This FREE event celebrated the start of Summer in style with a huge range of activities and fun for the whole family to enjoy.
Once again it was an extremely exciting event in their calendar and was an extremely well attended afternoon of families having fun in the sun!
Yes once again the GSPCA we were there with lots of tombolas and games to raise funds for the many animals in our care.
On Sunday 16th June at Saumarez Park the GSPCA stall was out supporting the Annual Classic Vehicle Show hosted by Guernsey Classic Vehicle Club LBG.
We had a great time last year and we are delighted once again had another incredible day raising funds for the many animals in our care at the GSPCA.
The day started at 11am and our stall was headed up by Community and Training Officer Tim Pellett with his daughter Evie.
Tim said “We had a great day on Fathers Day at the Annual Classic Vehicle Show.”
The Guernsey Arts Commission earlier this month worked with multiple organisations to promote inclusivity with in the arts. Arts Sunday was a day where everyone no matter what age or ability was able to enjoy the arts, take part in workshops and meet new people. There was an opportunity to participate in live music, dancing, arts, craft and so much more….
Once again the GSPCA were able to join them for another great event and would like to thank the organisors, all involved and all that supported a great day celebrating the arts in Guernsey.
Last month on the 9th May the GSPCA were not only very busy at the Shelter and around Guernsey rescuing animals, we were also out with two stalls.
One being headed up by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne in St Peter Port on Castle Emplacement and the other headed up by Michelle Champion at the Last Post.
Both stalls were incredibly busy and raised over £2500 between them and we must say a huge thanks to all that helped and supported such a great day of celebrations.
The GSPCA during hot weather often receive reports from concerned members of the public that have seen dogs locked in cars and with warm weather upon us we want to remind all pet owners of the real dangers to their pets
The GSPCA team have already been out to a number of vehicles with reports of dogs locked inside with little or no ventilation.
With the warm weather and direct sunlight, dogs in cars are potentially in a situation where you could kill your pet if it is left, regardless of the situation.
After months of care and 3 already released to the wild the 3 remaining seals are on the final stretch to the next part of their journey and life.
Having released Marty back in Jersey as well as Gully and Sealia on Jethou recently we now only have Hannah, Mambo and Andy left in our care.
Hannah and Mambo are doing incredibly well but need their final feeds of herring and mackerel and all donations of fresh fish or towards fish are hugely appreciated to fatten them up before their release very soon.
