Last Friday Stefania Mella from Credit Suisse gave up a day in the office to help out at the GSPCA.

We were pleased to welcome back Credit Suisse staff for the fourth year who are always a great help and support to the team at the Shelter and planning additional volunteer days with us later in the summer.

Free Training Event for Rabbit Owners & those Working With Them by Local Vet & Disinfectant Company to help prevent RHVD2

On Tuesday the GSPCA are holding a special training session to help rabbit owners and professionals that may work or care for bunnies due to the outbreak of RHVD2 recently.

The event is open to everyone and free of charge although donations are very much appreciated.

There is no need to book a space but if you could email your name and number and the names of anyone that might join you to [email protected] we can prepare the training room at the GSPCA in advance or please call 01481 257261.

Thank you to La Houguette School Fete for inviting the GSPCA to join them & all that supported

On the 17th June the GSPCA joined La Houguette Primary School for their summer school fete.

In the wonderful sunshine the GSPCA had a fantastic afternoon and would like to thank all that supported and helped on what was a lovely afternoon with two of our resident tortoise.

A fantastic £200 was raised and many asked about the animals in need of homes at the GSPCA.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We had a wonderful afternoon at La Houguette Primary School Summer Fete and raised a wonderful £200 to help the 450+ animals in our care."

You are invited to a BBQ & some bubbles to celebrate the opening of our newly floored & look Charity Shop Tuesday 4th July

The newly floored and looking GSPCA Charity Shop has reopened its doors thanks to donations from the Mondomundi Group, DWA Flooring and a special thanks to the Work to Benefit team who carried out nearly all of the work.

To celebrate the new look Charity Shop and show case the wonderful looking facility we are inviting you to a free BBQ from 4pm on the 4th July and to a late night opening.

A selection of food will be served from 4pm until 730pm and refreshments including prosecco and soft drinks will be served free of charge.

WARNING TO ALL RABBIT OWNERS - Rabbit Haemorraghic Viral Disease 2 killing rabbits in Guernsey

The GSPCA is asking all rabbits to take great care as Rabbit Haemorraghic Viral Disease (RHVD2) variant 2 has been discovered here in Guernsey.

The fatal disease is a huge risk to unvaccinated rabbits and especially to those in outside enclosures.

The GSPCA has been in close communication with local vets and the States Vet after concerns of a possible disease affecting rabbits from around Guernsey over recent weeks.

GSPCA Poison Garden Official Opening thanks to St Andrews Floral Group, Vets4Pets, Guernsey Kennel Club & Island Dog Training

Today the GSPCA with St Andrews Floral Group celebrated the official opening of the first Channel Island Poison Garden, an educational area to help teach pet owners of dogs and cats the plants to take care when planting.

This has been all thanks to three major sponsors Vets4Pets Guernsey, Island Dog Training Club and the Guernsey Kennel Club.

But the thanks doesn't stop there a major thank you must go to Steve and the Work to Benefit team that have put hundreds of hours into the project.

Join the GSPCA at the South Show & their Fun Dog Show Saturday 12th August

Come and join the South ‘Fun Dog Show’ 2017 at the South Show at St Martins Community Centre Field on Saturday 12th August.

The Show opens at 10.00 and to register they are asking you arrive before 2.50pm for a 3.00pm start.

Just £1.00 entry fee per dog and you can enter as many classes as you are eligible for.

All Dogs must be fully vaccinated and kept on a lead at all times.

All Island dogs are welcome.

Compered & judged by Steve Byrne of the GSPCA and supported by Creature Comforts.

GSPCA chosen as finalist in the Sure Customer Service Awards in Best Use of Social Media & Volunteer Suzy Rose Highly Commended

The GSPCA have been recently contacted by the Sure Customer Service Awards with the wonderful news that we are a finalist in the Best Use of Social Media.

This follows a period of public nominations, and a judging panel meeting last week to decide the deserved finalists in each of the nine categories.

We have also been informed that GSPCA volunteer, Suzy Rose, whilst not a finalist, was highly commended in the category of Humble Volunteer.

The GSPCA are devastated to report that Rocco the grey seal pup sadly passes away

This morning the GSPCA have been devastated to find that Rocco the Jersey grey seal pup who was rescued on Sunday by the BDMLR team, arrived in Guernsey on Tuesday and has been under the care of the team and the vets passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Rocco was rescued the same afternoon that Sami the Jersey seal pup was released back in her home waters.

This is the first ever grey seal pup the GSPCA has had rescued and come into care in the middle of the summer which is extremely unseasonal and never been seen before.
