On the 4th June the GSPCA took a stall down to join the many others celebrating the Arts Seafront Sunday.
With fantastic weather and thousands supporting the event at the GSPCA we would like to thank the organisors, the volunteers and all involved.
We raised a fantastic £965 and had a huge amount of fun meeting the many visitors.
This morning the GSPCA have been chatting to Mr Breban who owns two dogs that have been treated at local vets after potentially consuming rat poison.
Packets of a very strong supposedly licensed rat poison have been found in fields in the Forest area behind the airport.
The GSPCA are asking all dog owners to take great care in the fields between Rue des Agneaux, La Villiaze and Route des Blicqs.
The two dogs owned by Mr and Mrs Breban are a 10 month old female lab and a 5 year old female beagle.
After a massive tidy and new floor in our on-site charity shop we have re-opened the doors and to celebrate this Thursday St Martins Primary School students during their Epic Week will be selling cakes along with drinks this between 130pm and 230pm.
The children from St Martins Primary School enjoyed a tour yesterday, will be helping read to the animals and clean some cages today, helping with our conservation work tomorrow and finish their week on Thursday at the Shelter selling cakes to raise funds for the animals in our care.
With over 450 animals in our care we are extremely busy at the GSPCA.
At the GSPCA we are appealing for blankets and especially towels to help to provide them bedding, for handling and drying them off.
So if you are clearing out your airing cupboard or sorting through your linen please think of the many animals in our care.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "We use hundreds of towels and blankets every day at the GSPCA and our laundry machines are on around the clock."
Last weekend at the GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday we had a huge undertaking getting everything needed from the GSPCA on to the Seafront and back in the hours allowed.
For the 6th year we were overwhelmed by the kindness of so many volunteers and businesses who helped not only transport everything back and forth but all those that helped through the day.
Le Friquet Home of Garden & Living have announced that they will be donating 1% of their pet department sales to support their chosen charity, the GSPCA throughout 2017, and are asking customers for their help to back this initiative.
The Castel based garden centre, who are supporting the charity for the 2nd year running, are putting a number of initiatives into action this year in order to help raise awareness of the GSPCA’s excellent work, as well as raise much needed funds to ensure the health and well-being of the animals they look after.
Invite to all GSPCA volunteers, staff, placements and helpers.
As a way of a thank you to all of our amazing volunteers and staff we are holding a party on Saturday the 10th June from 7pm at the Animal Shelter.
As its Summer please sport your best summer out fit and sun glasses for a fun evening as a way of thanks for all of the hard work carried out 24/7 from the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday to the around the clock animal care, the conservation work to those that are helping lay the floor in the charity shop.
Bailey a 3 year old Shih Tzu is an extremely sweet and wonderful natured lady which all of the staff and volunteers have fallen in love with at the GSPCA.
Since arriving at the GSPCA, as sadly her owner could no longer care for her, it was quickly established that she was in need of an operation and a number of treatments.
Last week Bailey went along to the vets to be sedated for an operation after having blood in her urine and difficulty urinating. The vets performed an operation which resulted in removing 4 very large bladder stones.
This Sunday pop into St Peter Port to support the Arts Seafront Sunday and visit our stall raising funds for animals in Guernsey.
After an amazing Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday last week we are back on the Crown Pier this weekend.
From 10am until 4pm the sea front will be packed with stalls and things to do with an arts theme.
We are extremely thankful to Arts Sunday for allowing us to join them this weekend.
If you can help out on our stall we will be setting up from 7am and will be there until just after 4.30pm.
