Today Lily-Ella O’Brien was welcomed at the GSPCA for a behind the scenes tour as a way of thanks for the amazing donation she has given.

At her recent 7th birthday party instead of presents Lilly-Ella asked her friends to make donations instead of presents to help the animals at the GSPCA.

An amazing £200 was raised which Lily-Ella brought up this afternoon and after presenting it to the GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne he then gave her and her grand-mother a guided tour of the GSPCA Animal Shelter in St Andrews.

On Monday the GSPCA joined the fun and festivities of Lé Viaër Marchi in Saumarez Park.

Despite what had been a wet and grey day as the event drew closer the clouds thinned and rain stopped.

The GSPCA for a second year in a row joined the fabulous event and once again had a wonderful time.

GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne and volunteer Molly Phillips along with one of her friends ran what was once again a very popular stall raising funds for the many animals in our care at the GSPCA.

A week back Friday a young lady from the Youth Commission North Youth Centre joined the GSPCA team on the Bumblebee boat to Jethou to release Bonnie the grey seal pup.

Bethany became a very lucky lady after the winner of a competition to join the release was unable to come and he donated it to a young deserving person.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager contacted the Youth Commission to see who they thought would benefit from this once in a life time opportunity and they asked Bethany to join the team.

Final appeal to help Olivia fly south as Cites paperwork arrives - please donate to Olivia's care and flight

Submitted by Steve on 13:41, 2nd Jul, 2016 | 0

Finally the documents are in place to fly Olivia south and we are appealing for donations or for a plane to help transport her to the Canaries in the next few weeks.

Olivia who nearly died in March is the first ever loggerhead sea turtle to visit Guernsey and they are so rare there are only 40,000 breeding females in the wild.

After months of rehabilitation she is now strong enough to endure the journey back to warmer waters and a rescue in Gran Canaria and we are appealing for donations or a plane to help fly her to where she belongs.
