Submitted by Steve on 21:40, 21st Jun, 2016 | 0

This evening three stray budgies were found near Saumarez Park which were kindly transported to the GSPCA by Leo Thomas founder of Sarnia Guinea Pig Rescue.

The two male and one female birds were found together and both males are in fairly good condition, with the female bird with a few small injuries but otherwise fine.

The birds have been named Major, Manuel and Sybil.

We have already had a number of stray canaries and budgies found this year and sadly many are never claimed and are either rehomed or cared for at the Animal Shelter.

A huge thank you to GFF Flooring and Co-op Helping Hands - 2 fantastic local companies helping with new floors at the GSPCA

Submitted by Steve on 20:01, 20th Jun, 2016 | 0

We are hugely grateful to GFF Flooring who donated and fitted flooring to our Hospital area last week.

Also a huge thanks to a Co-op Helping Hands grant which helped enable us to also fit last week a new floor in the ferret room.

Both floors were in desperate need due to the age and regular use they see 24/7.

With the lovely weather many of the animals went into outside cages and aviaries, while others went into other sections of the GSPCA so the work could be carried out.
